Why not? They dropped Megaman, the series that basically shot them into popularity.

Megaman hasn't been selling well anywhere in the world.
On the other hand, MHP3rd has sold over 3 million units in Japan alone.
Monster Hunter is Capcom's (and pretty much Sony's) Pokémon.

Just because a game is "well received" doesn't mean it actually sold a lot.
Specially when you're talking about digital downloads.

Back in 09 when it was released, it was in the top 5 for a good year or so in each respective system. If I can find the stats I will post them. 10 didn't sell as well but it you go in Wii or 360 and look at top titles, you'll see them there still to this day.

Is it OUR fault that Capcom isn't making new Mega Man games even though we beg them? HOW in the hell are consumers to blame when we support the series 100%? How is it our fault they only sold 9 and 10 through digital distribution? Starforce=/= Mega Man it's a mediocre spin off (which is also somehow STILL a top selling DS series).

So it's not just 9 and 10; even Star Force sold well. If you're saying that Capcom is right for turning their backs on a series their fans still heavily support, you're sorely mistaken. I understand marketing and economics but there is not just reason why they shouldn't sell a new Mega Man game. It WOULD sell well.

So you'd rather Capcom shit out a new game more often that isn't as well crafted? That is what would happen, its only be just over a year since 10 came out, maybe they don't want to release the same retro title over and over.

Of late they seem to have calmed down a lot on the MM front opting for quality which is probably why Legends 3 (which didn't looks to be that good) and the Universe games didn't come out. Universe would have sold well as a downloadable title.
