im actually (unlike u guys) going to try it.

I did too. It's a trivia quiz with a 2d-done-to-look-3d map-adventure element bolted on the side.

This fact proves to be completely redundant when the player realises that the game's main adversarial irritation in these zones, which come in the form of life-draining spider like things "Herra-Ticks" (I kid you not
laugh.gif
) can be completely by-passed without losing health by holding down the run button and pegging it straight through the middle of them.

So with that in mind, the whole game is just a trivia quiz about the bible, with some tedious running between quizmasters bolted on the side.

5 question sets will complete a level, then you get an item (first one being the "Shoes of preparation", which bear an inexplicable resemblance to Abba-esque white knee-high boots) and move to the next map. Repeat.

I stopped at this point. And I only got that far because I should've been doing project work which is due in tomorrow afternoon. Yay for Java image processing! *cough* (read: it's 2am already so a certain someone's going to be pulling an all nighter
cry.gif
)

Not so yay for the game. It gets old really quickly, and the map areas are just pointless.

QUOTE(MajinGohan @ Nov 13 2005, 05:01 PM)I can imagine a minigame where you have to navigate Baby Moses down the river by dodging the obstacles. If you fail you´ll get a "Oh no! Now the pharao will never let your people go! Now Jesus can´t be born!" message.
Pure genius! That comment had me in stiches

Sorry, Tempest, I figured you'd be smarter than that. Anyway, let me clear out I was joking like hell. I really don't care about religion. Bible, Religion, whatever...Although I do believe there's more between heaven and earth. I once played in a band, one of our songs was called "Religion Sucks". It killed too many people in history. Maybe it's food for thought: make a sequel to Advance Wars: Religion Wars...

I find it interesting that you should mention that religion has killed too many people in history. If you know the fact, you will know that actually, politics and secular idealogies have killed more people in history than religion. What were the causes of WWI, WWII, Cold War, Vietnam War, Desert Storm, etc. Were they religious? I think not. More people have died in the last 100 years than in the rest of human history combined.

Warning: This is exactly what I'm cautioning people about.

It could burst into flames at any time, at which point I will lock this thread. I don't want to have to do that.

(By the way, expand your search to earlier than the 20th century, and get ready to drink from the fire hose. )

Please try and refrain from making a mockery of this game just because it is Bible related. I try not to take some of these comments too seriously, but there seems to be so much contempt toward christianity, perhaps because a lot of so called christians are somewhat corrupt, hypocritical, and judgemental, and these are the ones we hear the most from - while those that we don't hear much from, get a lot of hatred directed towards them - perhaps it's just an American thing. Anyway, if it's just bashing, it's not needed.
The game could still be crap though

I just love how any topic from politics, to killing kittens to religion can be become an "American" bashing thing. Totally rules! The irony here is that some company (Crave) will make big bank based off faith as I know many religious folks who will buy this for their kids. The profits Crave makes will go nowhere near making the world a better place just like all the other people who market the book. ::cough:: Mel ::cough:: A small request can I get a smiley pissing on the American flag? I think that would go well on this forum!

This is almost as bad as the people on reality tv shows that think God will help them win the money and they pray to God that he lets them win if that is his will...
I would have went with the rap artist who murdered their enemies but thank God first for the awards on T.V.

Sorry if it looked like I was bashing Americans WeaponX, I really didn't mean it that way. It's just that in the news, I always see American "christians" being quite vocal about a lot of things (or should I say too vocal), and that's why I think they provoke such a backlash. I really wasn't trying to be offensive in any way.

Sorry sorry sorry! I didn't want to offend anybody. So therefore don't quote my initial posts anymore, for I neither want any discussion about this.

I just started posting in a more or less ironic way and later tried to explain myself to avoid misinterpretations. Maybe I went a bit too far in my strange sense of humour. For me this topic is closed...

Peace, love and harmony to everyone

I have as much contempt for religion as the next person but I think even real salt of the earth Christians know not everything with 'Jesus' and 'Bible' on the cover is any good or even entertaining. Most of it is boring: movies, games, tv shows, music (!!!!!), etc, etc, so I think our cynicism is well founded. Granted, if a developer actually had the balls to inflict the Bible into some third person shooter where we played as Moses and we had to fight the Egypt and it had all the bells and wistles of a real video game (killer graphics, excellent voice acting, well paced plot, cool gameplay, etc) I wouldn't care what it was based on - the number one rule for video games is make it fun!

I think when a developer and publisher finally get the balls to bring the violence, blood and gore of the Bible onto a video game then we can take a good hard long look at it.
I agree with you for the most part. =) I'm ok with Christian games like this, that are for kids. If your a Christian family and you want your kids to learn the Bible, what better way than through a game.

At the same time, Christians have an opinion of violence; that its a bad thing. Yet in the Bible God had his own Jewish people destroy entire enemy cities; killing everyone in them. I think it would be great to see a Kingdom Under Fire game based around the Jewish wars. Or a God of War type game based around Sampson. I don't see a Moses game based around killing Egyptians because that never happened. Moses did kill an Egyptian, but that was just one. If games like this were to come out, I would want them to be 100% Biblically correct.

As for those of you who are not just bashing this game for being Christian, but bashing Christians as a whole; be careful. If the God of the Christians is really God, I don't think He will take your persecuting lightly. The Bible does show Him as a God of love. But the Bible also shows Him as a God of justice, wrath and war. There is also a thing called respect. I think all people of any race or religion deserve it. Its ok to argue about things; but please remember respect.

This game might have some untrue bible story which I notice and is not fully faithful to the bible story and is not good for kids because they might be confused or something.

However, maybe the bible book itself might be a fairy story or something I don't know. This is good for Christianities who believe in it so that's fine. Anyway, this game is so weird and strange to me. I would not recommend it to the kids and maybe for some an adult too.

P.S. Therefore, it is just game to enjoy -- that's all.

*sigh*, another bible game, this is why people think us Christians are loonies.

*sigh*, anyone remember Bible Adventures for the NES, I loved tossing baby moses in that river...

and Jumpman, before you blame all "christians" look at the perpatrators, mainly southern baptist tv shows.

Ugh those people and their money scams make me sick.

I beat The Bible Game for GBA. This has to be the worst game i've played and finished by far. The entire game consists of you running towards red dots on barren maps until you beat devils they call decievers. They throw fire at you which of course hurts you though its a bit surprising considering that every other enemy in the game can be walked through as only the occasional spider hurts you. To beat the devils you simply run straight into them, your character then hits them with a bible and...then the devil makes you answer bible trivia. Wtf? The trivia is so easy (I played on medium) its ridiculous. For a jew like me who knows a little old testament and nothing else, you can just guess or common sense yourself to easy victory (chances are the answers Amen since most questions are answered with that one ;o). After beating the devils you get a key piece that lets you unlock the church which holds some holy equipment, might I add the whole point is to get the holy armor by beating the master devil...except you never do. Worst game ever by far.
