Well, I guess that the hardware inside a 3DS cart is not that different from what's in DS carts. Yes, there's some more space available, but most probably it is the same technology, and that's why they could dump it relatively easy.

Of course, the resulting dump files are encrypted, but's that's OK as 3DS will do the decryption anyway.

Aside from some header info they seem to be encrypted. Reminds me of how they did super early DS dumps. In the future we'll have to identify this better for undubs and general hacks but not for piracy with a proper exploit.

1. the DS lite isn't on
2. the DS lite doesn't seems to be connected to the dumper

so maybe they put it there to confuse people ^^
The DS lite is on. If you look carefully, you can just about make out the "home screen" thing that appears when you turn on the DS lite.

Maybe they just put the NDS on the photo so you cant see more of the dumping device.
Seems like they built a custom PCB for the cartridge and use a altera fpga to manage the dumping process?

The PCB just looks like a connection board. And the "rainbow wires" are just a logic analyzer, which shouldn't be necessary in the dumping process.

We still don't know if that DS Lite serves some real purpose or not.

Don't get your hopes up for anytime now.

And why do you keep posting 'GREECE FTW!'? We get it, you like your country, can you at least put it in your signature?
And don't think 'Ohhh racist! :B', I am Greek myself.
To put it simply... It's rare to see Greek people in forums... generaly any English speaking forums... So it's a way of saying: "Hey there" to our dear Greeks

Yeah, the PCB looks like it's basically there to physically mount the cartridge and split the I/O lines. The FPGA probably does a lot of the work, whether they're just sniffing the line or actually trying to talk to it. The logic analyzer might be for debugging purposes.

But that's just my take on a single photo. It might be just a hoax.

my main question is if they do find a way to dump all games. Will they ever be playable on the 3ds 2.0 update? Didnt the same thing happen to the dsi. That everything worked fine untill Nintendo release 1.4x. then it was some months before cards worked on dsi again.

I think this is why they are just now showing this to us . This way, it gives Nintendo very little time to make fixes.

find a way to dump um all?

they can all be dumped same way, they might not have bought them all to dump tho lol

well you could mod a 3DS card and change the game around but that would only allow 1 game on teh card at a time but not cheats or menu would be useable
(assuming this is what the group did to test um)

You can't do that. ROM stands for "Readable Only Memory", that means that you can't erase the game and replace it with another one. In order to do that, the 3DS card should have a EPROM (Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory) instead of a ROM, and I highly doubt that.
