New Super Robot Taisen OG game to release on the PS3

Namco Bandai Games announced in this week's issue of Famitsu magazine that the Super Robot Taisen Original Generation series is making its debut on the PlayStation 3 in a scant few months.

Dai 2 Ji Super Robot Taisen OG, the eight in the Original Generation series, is due out exclusively for the PS3 this August. Two versions will be available: the plain old PS3 game, and a limited-edition package that includes the Blu-ray collection of Super Robot Wars Original Generation: The Inspector, a 26-episode anime that wrapped up its TV run last month. This limited pack will cost 41,790 yen.

Original Generation is a spin-off of the Super Robot Taisen series of anime-robot strategy sims that boasts a 100-percent original story instead of relying on robots licensed from assorted Japanese shows. The most recent OG game to hit the US was Endless Frontier: Super Robot Taisen OG Saga on the Nintendo DS in 2009 (pictured above).

I'm not a big fan of SRPG games but Endless Frontier kicked ass. Odds are for fans though that there's a small chance this may get localized (as regular SRT games that use licensed robots are copyright messes over here) officially.

I'm still waiting for my SRT: OG Saga Endless Frontier EXCEED localization.

Endless Frontier was pretty awesome, though I never got around to completing it. The thing I remembered most about that game was Kaguya's boobies. X_X

If they manage to bring this to the States though, I'll be happy for a bit.

Also, Endless Frontier wasn't an SRPG....

All the other SRT OG Saga games are SRPG. Endless Frontier is basically a standard RPG spin-off. This won't be a turn-based RPG and it'll be a SRPG, most likely.

I loved Endless Frontier. This should be localized, as should Endless Frontier Exceed.

Better get localized, don't care if it is just a official translation, would love for it to be localized.

OG means Original Generation which means everything is original which means no license issues.

Nobody is going to pay $430 for that limited edition pack, unless Amazon Japan cuts that price by 20-50% for preorders like they usually do I don't see the LE selling much.
