there really is nothing to add, so i voted no. they are at a stalemate.

if they were smart they would add usb loading as an official method and started selling nintendo branded usb HDD at 30% markup. that would be a cool way for the wii to go out. final update enables usb loading.

on a side note, it annoys me that these companies don't include this with their systems. i understand the reason behind it, discs have a lifespan, so they are more profitable. i would probably buy some games if i could copy them to hdd and play. on second thought, nah i probably wouldn't. lol.
Consoles need hard drive or some other source of mass media storage on the console. What I think (see that, that is my opinion), is that a console console that does not bother with removable media for their device will make a lot more profit than a console that wastes their money on lasers and media that burns out faster. The only other thing that can keep the piracy hackers at bay is a way to launch legal homebrew utilizing the full capabilities of the console. Piracy will happen not matter what, but the hacker that want to write media software out of their hobby would be happier without having to fight anti-piracy for their wonderful apps.

The only one thing that I can think of that would be useful for them to add (other than official USB loading, which is never going to happen) is gamecube controller support on the Wii menu, and maybe theming.

This is the one thing I've wanted since the beginning. It's also the one priiloader hack I've wanted since the Twilight Hack was found.

the wii is pretty much dead it only has zelda left and after than it'll be finished or continue to be chocked with SW. N is already working on the next console though so who cares.

I'm guessing they could release v5.0 with the Zelda game.
It seems like that the new Zelda game will end up coming out with the new console, but who REALLY knows.

There were a few games that were meant for the gamecube but came out so late that they made it for the wii instead.

The new Zelda will definately come out on the new console and, like they did with TLOZTP, on the Wii of course

I don't think so. My guess is that everyone is either moved to the 'wii2' or to the 3DS department. Also...the smash stack and Indiana pwns exploits weren't fixed in either 4.2 or 4.3, and considering how long it's been since they were released (mid 2009?), I seriously doubt a fix is going to come no matter how many firmwares nintendo will throw at us.

At best, there'll be an update next month (ey...if they're releasing a 3DS patch just before E3, why not a wii patch?). But at best, it'll just stub anything above 200. I dont' believe they'll add something interesting, like a fast way to transfer your miis to your 3DS.

EDIT: aw, crap! Accidentally voted 'yes' (why is that option in the bottom, btw? I'm used to yes/no questions...not no/yes questions

besides we bypassed every fw update on the wii with a modified fw or a modified sm installer with in days of a system menu release Ninty is more focused on Project cafe and my guess it will be strrong security like the ps3 "was" the ap on that thing might be too difficult for our current hacking tools

The PS3 security was strong but thats not why it remained unhacked for so long. It remained unhacked for so long because we could already run unsigned code on it through OtherOS but when sony got rid of that feature homebrewers were upset and began working on solutions to make it possible again. the security isn't weak but clearly Sony made a fatal mistake. Either way It's impossible to speculate how or when the "Wii 2" will be hacked However I can safely say that it's very likely that there will never be a game system produced by Nintendo that isn't hacked.

I would say that using a security system where a "random" number is the same number every time is pretty weak man. That most likely could have been found a while back, just no one was really looking.

I suppose he's referring to "Waninkoko"'s System Menu.

Agreed, the PS3 only had the illusion of security. Once people started investigating it was clear how poorly designed the security was. Even now, the only reason that current firmwares haven't been hacked is that the people who have broken FW3.60 haven't shared that info out of fear of lawsuits.

On topic: I do believe that nintendo no longer cares about security on the wii. They may make some half-assed effort when Skyward Sword is released, but circumventing it will take a few days/weeks at most.
