I used to follow this project on psycoblasters blog and was wondering what exactly happened. I actually stopped reading the blog because of all the moronic trolls spewing their bs daily. Is this why it was never released? As unfortunate as it is I wouldn't really blame psyco for ditching it because of that. I also seem to remember reading that there was a hardware failure or loss of files or something to that effect. Anyway, I was just wondering about this so does anyone have the inside scoop?

I can remember psycoblaster said that the translation was complete, it was in the procces of beta testing. But no news about that. Personally, I think it will never be released, but I'm not mad with psycoblaster, it was her time and her desition to release it or not. (but many trolls are pissed off about this fact)

I wouldn't share squat if I got comments like that. Too many trolls and not enough supporters. Some of the supporters they did have ended up harassing them just as much as the trolls.

The supporters can become even worse than the trolls if the person leaves the project.

IMO, I think the translators should just ignore the trolls. I know they get annoying, but everyone deals with trolls one time or another.

Isn't that... what I said?

It's not easy ignoring trolls when you already have the stress of a translation. Anyone can bottle up their irritation until they start hulk smashing everything BECAUSE they bottled up so much. It's better to take action. Delete or close comments/ban/strip clothes/do whatever it takes to keep the peace.

People destroyed the ASH translation long before psyco's last disappearance. All it takes is a little research and you'll see what I mean. A lot could have been prevented, but not all of it.

You're correct, Slyakin.

Isn't that... similar to what I said? :wtf:

Not entirely similar. You said that they the supporters harass them as much as the trolls do, but I said they're worst than the trolls.

(I know, that sounds a bit weird.)

And that's what I hate about translations the most: The trolls. I understand what you mean about the stress of translations, thats why I kinda wish that where ever they post their projects, they could be a couple of moderators that could delete comments/ban people. Like here. I don't know where they posted their project, but if they did have people like that than the trolls there must have been relentless.

They aren't worse than the trolls, they CAN be worse than the trolls.

Is that what you meant? XD

Trolls, "My two cents" people, and impatient brats are killing off the DS translation community. As unfortunate as it sounds, I don't think they plan to stop.

Yeah, that's what I meant xD.

I total agree with you on that. There are so many unfinished or never released projects because of them. I wish they stop.

I totally agree, towards the end there it got downright disgusting. It came out that psyco was a girl and the comments even started turning sexist..... friggin' sad! It's weird, I'm dissappointed that it won't see the light of day but happy that those douchebags won't get their greedy paws on it either.

Anyway, psyco, if you ever read this, thank you for the attempt at giving something to others and sorry that some of those others slapped you in the face for your troubles!

Really unfortunate this never came to be, especially because of the trolls and harassers that lead to it's demise.

I doubt psyco will ever return though, much less finish the ASH project. The moment he/she/it posts something, will immediately erupt in a massive flame war made of rage and ass-kissers.

Add the fact that he/she/it dumped the project like a bad date only adds oil to the flames.

I think I remember reading that the work was lost in a hard drive failure.

Actually, according to Psycho, all of the data and utilities were on a single thumb drive. She lost it, waited a while to admit she lost her work, and quit shortly afterward when people started complaining about the lack of backups.

And while I didn't post anything at the time, I am forced to agree that failing to back up your data is critical tends to make you look bad, especially when it happens right before the final release.

translation projects are pure service.
people can bitch and moan all they want about how slow it goes, or that it gets cancelled or how bad it sucks, but they need to realize that a person took their time to do something that most definitely didnt need to be done and was nice enough to release it for everyone to use.
This is why i consider Translation Teams to be some of the nicest people.
They could just as easily not announce their translation, and keep it for themselves.
