Tutorial Modify ANY Wii 4.3 & below

i have just softmodded a 4.3E using the indy exploit and the modmi files, but now i want to install usb loader gx. i have already installed the channel on the main menu (home screen) but do i need to install custom IOS (IOS222/223/224). i looked in the wad files that modmi had downloaded and saw that there was the following ios:

CIOS222(57)-V5
cIOS223(37-38)-V4
cIOS224(57)-V5

are these the same custom ios that are needed for the usb loader, also if i do need to install these custom ios is trucha bug needed first.thanks.i have searched regarding this but i get alot of conflicting material......................sudeki300

First off, this isn't the place to be posting if you are using ModMii. Post in the ModMii thread.

I did notice that you have the same version and base for 222 and 224, which defeats the purpose of multiple slots. You should get 222[38]v4 instead.

@Joostin,
He musta wrote it down wrong, ModMii's recommended cIOS222 is base 38, not 57. The recommended cIOS202 is the same as the recommended cIOS224 (v5 base 57), but not many apps use cIOS202 anymore... just old emulator or media player apps

@sudeki300, don't use usb-loader gx... it's the least stable of today's usb-loaders. Use ModMii to help u set up a usb-loader like cfg usb-loader or wiiflow. U should have everything u need installed on your Wii to run ANY usb-loader (assuming u followed ModMii guide correctly), including gx, but u still need to have your hard drive set up properly... and ModMii can walk you through that process.

Return of the Jodi is the accurate name of the exploit. It's a play on words to sound like Return of the Jedi, but instead says JODI after Jodi Daugherty cuz she's in charge of security of the Wii @ Nintendo. JODI was also the title ID of the HBC v1.06

Personally my favourite name for an exploit is giantpune's "Jabba the HAXX"... or even better, one of the alternate names for Jabba the HAXX that wasn't chosen... "A Hack of the Clones", lol

Hi there!

Got 2 problem here;

1-Softmodded console doesnt read any copied disc anymore (Black screen)
2-Whenever I go in wad manager 1.7, controller shuts down, doesnt detect console anymore (batteries are full)

Here's the story:

I Soft Modded my niece's Wii a few months ago.... everything was all good, I taught her (she 8-9yrs old) how to use the Neogamma channel to launch the copied games, and everything was good...

until a few days ago... the wii just stopped reading the copied games, but reads perfeclty the original discs. Booting a copied disc gives a Black screen

So I thought maybe she played a game which updated her wii... but her wii is still 4.2U

I got the wii here right now, I checked, and neogamma doesnt read copied disc anymore, softchip neither... so I figured I'd try another maybe newed version of softchip or Neogamma... latest version of softchip didnt work (Black screen). and I tried installing the Neogamma channel... but now whenever I get into WAD MANAGER the controler shuts down and never detects the console anymore... so I pulled out a Gamecube controler... Homebrew channel works with the GC controler, but once Wad manager is loaded, the controler doesnt work anymore.

Anyone has any idea?

try remodding with with xflax's mod mii.. an see if that works out. it will update every ios in the system. just like a main update with out the b.s from nin.

theres virtually no difference between 4.1/4.2/4.3

Mainly for hardmod users. Even if you don't have a hardmod, there is still no logic in choosing 4.2 over 4.1. Even though most of the problems with 4.2 have been worked around, you are still losing some features and brick recovery options by requiring a 4.2 update. I don't get why you would want that.

You mean what are you losing? Bannerbomb 1, the Netflix Disc exploit (which uses BB1), and region free for hardmod users come to mind. And what benefit do you get from requiring a 4.2 update? None.

So are these huge losses? No. But that doesn't change the fact that there is no logic in using 4.2 instead.

Why did you cut out the reasons I mentioned? Also, how does it make the guide any shorter or simpler by using 4.2? To change it to 4.1, you would just have to switch 2 wads (the System Menu and the IOS) and you are done. The guide is the same length, and you don't install fail on peoples' Wiis.

Understand I'm not trying to insult you guys, I just would like an explanation as to how 4.2 is beneficial. You said it makes it shorter, but that isn't true. You also hid the reasons why 4.1 is better by editing a quote. It sounds more like you just don't want to change it, despite the fact that you would be improving the guide.
