I will proceed to edit my last statement, as I was wrong to just troll for no reason. I had no thought process as to who i might have offended doing that and I apologize for what I have said. I'm just an atheist and i shouldnt have said what i said.

You will burn in the fires of Hell for all eternity.

Nothing anyone can do about it, it's your choice. Say hello to Hitler for me.

Oh, and what's with all the rainbows around here lately? I mean, first that one kid's rainbow sig (gay), and now a rainbow background for a Bible app (kinda contradictory, eh?)?

Great. Now the other side is trolling. Assuming you're religious and this isn't some weird form of sarcasm, you're making us other religious people look bad. Leeday was (very politely) apologizing. Also: who says rainbows HAVE to be associated with homosexuality? I seem to recall something about a rainbow in the Bible after the Great Flood...

Urm, guys, the first connection that most Christians have with rainbows comes from the bible. (remember that whole flood story?)
Gay people co-opted the symbol WAAAYY after that.

But in truth, who really cares? I remember my days in the youth ministry quite well, and at no point do I recall the teaching "Love thy neighbor, just so long as they share the exact same thoughts and feelings as you do".

I suggest the trolling and flame-baiting in this thread cease, before we begin handing out warns and suspensions for them.

My thoughts precisely on all counts (and more or less what I was trying to say in my previous post). It's nice to have a sensible Moderator.

I'm a Christian (Hypocrite Christian, actually) and this is hilarious.

Also, good job on bringing the Bible to the DS, I support whoever did this.

Though i disagree with the background too. In fact, the whole concept of DS bible is contradictory. Wasn't there some sort of rule that said about not having material possessions?

Ugh, stop telling us what's in the Bible. You obviously have little and distorted knowledge of it. The Bible speaks of not being materialistic, and it also speaks of being generous with brothers in need. The closest it comes to condemning material possessions is in saying "don't store up treasures on Earth, but instead store up treasures in heaven, which do get destroyed over time and stolen." (Or something like that)

At least know what you're talking about before opening your mouth.

Presume this is the King James version, which has somehow become the 'real' version, as if the original was a rough draft and this was the final copy. Not sure why it's so ubiquitous, guess it's because it's what people think the Bible should sound like, even though its Olde Worlde English bears little resemblance to either modern language or the language the Bible was written in. Suppose that's why more accurate, later translations are shunned. Not enough thee and thou.
Nah it's not that. It's more of where the Bibles are translated from. All modern Bibles are translated from a different text than the King James Version was. They're 98-99% the same, but that 1-2% makes all the difference, in some cases.

Christianity isn't about rules. Judaism was (i.e. Old Testament), but then in the New Testament, Jesus fulfilled the requirements of the Law, and so Christians are not bound by any "rules"; it is a relationship with God, which changes one's attitude in a way that will cause them to act differently, because they want to, not because they "must".

Well, because many English translations are based on the KJV (I think, maybe they aren't), they contain it's inaccuracies plus their own, so they're less accurate. Many try to make it easier to understand and thus dilute the true meaning (particularly paraphrases e.g. The Message). Personally I prefer NLT or ESV.

As for the app: I haven't tried it myself, but a few thoughts; I think the colour scheme is unappealing. It doesn't look like an attractive app to use. Additionally, I personally wouldn't wish to read anything on my DS, other than a few lines of dialogue in a game or whatever. Nice effort though, it's always great to see Bible apps for various consoles etc.

I agree with you 99%.... Just one small thing.... All Bible translations besides the KJV were translated using the Nestles text. Which happened to have been found in the Trash where it belonged. The KJV was translated using the Textus Receptus.... Thus, Modern Bible Versions are not based on the KJV. So are you a Christian?

This colorful background (one of total 4 available: 2 with black letters on light background and 2 inverted) was made because a teenage girl has helped to do the graphics. I agreed, partly because the Bible says that the sign of the covenant relationship between God and man after the flood is a rainbow and said to Noah; let all other generations after him remember that when they see a rainbow in the sky. So all the songs about over the rainbow, gay signs etc. use this universal symbol of Gods love and promise not to punish bad people by a global flood again. (however later you can learn about coming punishment by fire for those who twist the truth

Partly because I liked the skin I used this scheme.

The translation is LITV which tries to give back the original text as literally as posibble. The KJV (and other texts) are available here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/biblefornd...taTranslations/

Regarding reading on DS: It turned out to be way more convienient than I thought before starting the project, if you try you will see

Cheers to all Nintendo users and homebrew fans!

It's people like you who say that kind of crap for a cheap joke are the ones who get possessed.

QUOTE(NoOneDies @ May 10 2011, 12:45 AM) A satanic bible with death metal background music, that would be awesome.

What an idiot!
You'll regret saying that.

At the same time it's open-source. Anyone can add anything they want to it and if they want to add it, then more power to them.

Okay, you beat me there, but let us not make this thread into a Religion-Flame War, shall we?
