Because I'm getting the feeling you have no clue what's actually going on (just judging from the fact that you're not even aware that he didn't lose the case, which is what this entire thread is about). The precedent we feared was not set.

No, we discuss the situation and facts at hand. "You're wrong" with no actual reason or citation is just a waste of space and time, and just encourages the same in return. When it stops being a war of who says "wrong" more, and starts being a war of facts, THEN a proper conclusion can be reached (and the side left saying "YOU'RE WRONG BECAUSE I SAY SO" is obviously the troll).

The suit itself wasn't, but they claimed he violated the computer fraud and abuse act, which does have criminal penalties such as jail time.
