Inside a pouch in my bag or in my pocket if i've been too lazy to put it back in the bag after a bus trip.
Usually I put my handheld in my club Nintendo carrying case which is in my pocket , but I don't play my 3DS when I'm out and about.
I have it with me so I can get Play Coins while I hope for a tag on StreetPass.

i keep mine in a case i brought from amazon and usually put in my jacket pocket when i take my 3ds out with me
Is that the Expedition Case? If it is, that's the case that I first considered getting, but I thought I won't be bringing 6 games with me while I'm out. I got myself the Executive case.tommytucker92 said:

Right at the moment i'm using my old PSP protective sleeve and it is carried in my lower cammie jacket pocket.
Shelf. No way I'm taking that thing out in my neighbourhood this close to launch. After a year or so when everyone's already got one, I'll think about walking around with it.
Always carry it around around my wrist in my Club Nintendo pouch when I gotta shop or go to school. Can't fit them in dem skinny jeans pockets.

Depends on the situation (and weather)
If I'm taking a bag my 3DS goes in it's aluminium shell and into the bag, otherwise it's 'naked' and goes in a pocket.
If it's cold/raining I'll be wearing my coat which has plenty of pockets so 90% of the time no bag required
(damn current warmish weather)

i have a pocket above my knee that fits it perfectly in its case

In my inside jacket pocket, 'cause it has a zip and it's highly unlikely you can get to it without me noticing since I never take my jacket off.
