how to install cfg67c.dol??
I have to rename to boot.dol??
Someone can help me.
Thanks.

Yes and replace it inside SD:\apps\usb-loader
You can also update it from CFG directly (press 1 twice)

Changes:

cfg v68a (alpha)
* GUI menu

So here it is finally. An attempt of a GUI thingie. Most of you have probably already seen it (EE).
There's still a lot to do before it's complete, like making it translatable and themable...
Let me know what you think, opinions, ideas, anything...
Awesome!

But I'm only going to be able to test it tomorrow...

Can anyone post a screenshot in the meantime?

At the moment the v68a gui is a little cumbersome to use. E.g. normally you select a game with A then A and you are away playing quickly. Now A selects the gui view and then A does nothing. You have to point and press on the Select option (which is a pain when you are not the 1st wiimote because you don't even get a screen pointer - which is I think is actually a bug in CFG for all later versions?). Even then, doing that still loads the old info display from where you have to press A again. Will this be improved? Will we still be able to quickly load a game with A-A?

First of all, congratulations for this marvellous work!!!

Still, I have not tried the version 68 ... I will wait a bit.

I would like to suggest an improvement in the option "music = ".

Actually it is in the Global Options (config.txt), and it isn´t in the Theme Options (theme.txt)...

This is a problem when I change the theme and I want that another music sounds for this theme...
wink2.gif

For the present, to do it there are 2 ways:

1st way To change "Music = route of the music we want to be played "' in the config.txt. So, It is necessary to edit this file whenever let's want to change to another music in concretly.
wacko.gif

2nd way To place the new song in the route where CFG looks for the music. So, it is necessary to write/move the new song on the SD/HD...
wacko.gif

My idea, (the most simple way to do this, I think...), is that it was possible to place music = in the file theme.txt
. This way, whenever we change the theme, if the theme has it´s own music and and has it´s line "music = " with the route of it´s music, it´s music would sound automatically on having changed the theme.
smile.gif

With one click we change the images and the sound, it´s fantastic, isn´t it?

(I do not speak English ... I hope that I have explained it clearly...)

An example:

Theme: CSSv1
Music: CS_CZ.mp3

theme.txt
would have the line music = sd:/usb-loader/themes/CounterSSv1/CS_CZ.mp3

The creators of themes might include music, and in the file theme.txt would include the line music = "folder of the theme where the music is"

Regards

That would be cool...to have themes with music!!!!

Thanks to all the team for this GREAT software!!!

One question... if I have the covers in another directory (not in the default one)... where must be the cache folder?? Now, it seems to load slowly the covers...

My SD is like this:
SD:/images/3D
SD:/images/2D
SD:/images/full
SD:/images/disc

The interface in v68 is quite opposed to the style CFG had untill now .The old parts of the UI and this new one don't fit together at all . I hope you find a compromise , untill then i'm staying at 67c

Maybe a lot of options for themes. For example: custom button size, custom background images for buttons (separated parts for each buttons: left side, center, right side), editable button position, opacity.

I just tried to install Red Steel 2 and nearing the end of the installation it gave a bunch of...

WARNING: read (############) error (-2)

10 lines of that total. Then it says 99.17% of 2.97GB etc etc.
Using 56b2 on a 4.0U Wii with a Wiikey v1

Is this normal or did I do something wrong?

EDIT: After using the ALT dol method to watch that Motion Plus movie, the game boots and seems to play fine. Just worried that those errors might come back to haunt me.

Cheers, and thanks in advance.

I got the same with an original game disc of Red Steel 2, maybe they have put errors on the disc as a form of backup prevention? I'll double check the disc to make sure it's flawless but I believe it is, for me it started at around 85%. If it doesn't stop game play (as implied by post) then no big deal, I'm not an avid gamer so I'll probably only run a quick trial run, but I will post my results. BTW this is with v65 of cfg usb loader. PS. With all the wads from the Softmod ANY Wii Guide (I run 4.1U SM).

v68 is nice, but theres far to many thing that my kids can mess around with.

In fact, I'd like a mode where the only buttons that can be used are A and B

A to select a game, then A to load, or B back to the GUI, with any game or global options hidden by the child lock.

We already detected the need for the GUI Menu to be child locked and it will be doable via option sometime soon. You are already able to disable all the other Wiimote buttons using the button options. E.g., "button_1=nothing".

Despite that the new interface is great (congratulations!!!!), I adhere to the request of making it childproof, the old interface was already familiar for my kids, they just select desired game, press A, than A again and thats it. An option in the config.txt enabling/disabling the new interface could be a nice solution for this. Thanks for your great job!!!!

cfg v68a2 (alpha)
cfg68a2.dol
cfg68a2-222.dol
lang68a2.zip
(or online update)
Changes:

cfg v68a2 (alpha)
* Skip game start confirmation when started from gui menu.
* When a game is selected and the wiimote is not pointing
to the screen move the pointer to the start button so
that pressing button A will start the game directly.
* Always start with cover view in game dialog
(previously it remembered the last state)
* Changed gui option:
gui = 0, 1, 2, [3], start
gui = 0 : GUI disabled
gui = 1 : GUI enabled but starts in console mode
gui = 2 : GUI enabled and starts in GUI mode
gui = 3 : GUI and GUI Menu enabled. Starts in GUI mode
gui = start : same as gui = 3
* Translatable GUI menu

This should solve some of the issues.
Theming will be possible hopefully soon.
What else is there?

My current ideas/wishes:
- Move the fovorites star, so that it is not on top of the cover in the new gui selected mode. Or maybe just put it in the corner so that it doesn't cover anything of the actual picture.
- Move covers slightly to the right, so that full/HQ don't cover the change cover buttons.
- A slight glow or something to the currently selected button (maybe the blue line could be brighter).
- Spinning disc image (maybe not as default but as an option).
- I liked clicking on the disc to start the game, when I was using GX, but that might be hard to combine with the "spin the full/HQ cover".
- Being able to have a different cover type as standard when selecting a game (e.g. "3d" in flow mode and a spinning disc when selected).
- Being able to make a theme with the controller icons (the ones on the back on the game case) in info screen.
- A "help" menu with a short description of what different buttons do and stuff.

- Disable option for banner sounds.
- Vertical coverflow mode.
- Being able to change default standard boot option for all games while in the loader.
- And an additional option where you can set default options for games of a specific region.

I had more suggestions than I thought, heh.
These sounded like good ideas to me while I was typing

Great job with the new gui.
I have an idea about the covers. I don't see the point in showing 2d, 3d, full when you have the HQ for example.
I would instead just use a fall back system. If no HQ, then full is shown, if not then 3d then 2d.
To my mind it is only interesting to switch between the cover and the disk.
The other versions of the cover could even be erased from the SD, it would save space.
