^See?

It's just the no charge moves allow for some seemingly impossible lock downs. So the new players either need to throw sonic booms back or learn whats needed to go pro mode to have a good experience.

They piss me off so much. There's really not much you can do, I wish I could send messages or something to call them cheap, but instead they just go on, believing they're good.

The only problems i have online are rage quitters. I went up against a guy that beat me the first round then i got his health halfway the second round and he raged.

Anyone else getting a bit tired of being spammed to death by Hadoukens, sonic booms and the like in SFIV?

Is this your first experience with Street Fighter? Personally, I consider it spam too, but you can thank tourney players for making it acceptable. If you ever watch Diago play his Ryu, you'll know what I mean. It's obviously a viable strategy, one that is well accepted by the community, but it doesn't necessarily make for entertaining gameplay. That's why, if you're in to have fun, you'll need to find friends who are also playing for that reason, not just to win.
Daigo doesn't spam though, even if it may look like it.
There's a reason why the same competitive people who have trouble winning against Daigo can easily trash any other Ryu player who spams hadoukens.

Anyway, you really should just play on Pro mode, fewer spammers and no impossible combos due to no charge from Lite mode or whatever.

And players who just spam projectiles mindlessly are fairly easy to beat.
Either jump straight up to evade, use moves to go under/over, or slowly walk up while blocking.
Spammers have rather predictable timing.

Who here have played the console version?

when a fireball is coming on to you do de focus attack with this you will swallow the fireball and fill you ultra bar (*YOU CAN SWALLOW ONLY 1 HIT SO DONT TRY THIS ON EX FIREBALLS*) when the fireball is swallowed don't stop pressing the focus attack buttons instead do a dash (can be forward or backward) and that will make you cancel the focus attack and thats called FADC (Focus Attack Dash Cancel) and the FADC can not only help you with fireballs but can open you a lot of possibilities.

my tips:
if your being faced with a hadouken, use ken and (jump) spin kick your way toward him, you make great distance and you can even jump over them, mind the risk of being shoryuken'd but that rarely happens as players that spam hadouken often fail with that aswell.

same with sonic boom. I havent lost a single match against guile using this method so far.

hurricane kick can still get hit by sagat's standing projectile right? so not safe there

btw, controls for this game fails. having a screen specifically for special moves is so child's play. there should be a mode where that type of control is not available. of course, there will be less buttons for light, med, heavy punch or kick

Have you actually played the game? There IS a mode where those controls aren't available. It's called "Pro Mode" - you can't map specials to the touch screen, only Personal Action (taunt), Focus Attack, Throw, and the normal attacks.

Off topic: Former staff from toronto? Awesome. We should play some SSF4 3DS.

LOL, some funny reactions to the thread here. It's not a case of it being tough to beat at all - I'm very seasoned in SF, and can usually kick their arse (so comments like 'use the jump button' - not really my point, but nice try at being amusing). Instead, it's just annoying, and takes away from what I consider the SF experience. Jumping up and down like a kid with ADHD after 2 litres of coke to avoid Guile's 85000th sonic boom in 30 seconds isn't a lot of fun.

I had the options set to both Lite and Pro players, but I guess I'll just go Pro. Shame, cause it's good to play people of different calibres to learn different techniques.

Nevermind - see you online!

You're right. It does take the fun out of it. but there's nothing that can be done. Unless they can track hadouken spammers and throw all of them into one server.
I think they're going to do what they did before and try and release an "Ultra Street Fighter" with better game mechanics. from what I've seen, Guile is terribly broken.

If console gets AE edition, I'm sure 3DS will get one too. Except.. I don't think it will be a patch.

umm if you didnt read right i ment a JUMP Hurricane kickwhich obviously avoids all standing projectile's cause you'l be jumping over them while aswell making great distance and get close to him.
