1, When I lift up the 3DS from the charging hub (forget what it was called, the dock?), the brightness dims on the 3DS just a little bit? and I know I have the brightness settings on max. is it some kind of a EZVi DS Mode thing, or is that normal? did 3DS get brighter lights?

2. I left all my legit DS carts at home, so I can't try out how legit cards play on the 3DSs, so I was wondering does the top screen stretch out? I never had a DSi XL so I don't know how that works, are there legit carts that have "DSi mode" enabled? or do all legit DS carts play in DS mode, with the top screen not stretched out? I only have EZVi on me and that only played "DS Mode" which didn't have top screen stretched out.

1: many gadgets get brighter when they are on charging. as far as I know its just excess electricity making its presence known.

2: all DS games plays with a screen similar to the DS. which means that not all of the screen will be used. Black bars are put on the right and left of the game image.

2. No, as far as I know, the 3DS will upscale the upper screen when playing DS, and put borders on the side. But if you hold start and select while booting the game, you can play it in DS resolution.

Haven't noticed on my ipod touch, so... I know I've seen that somewhere but couldn't tell where exactly... maybe my laptop did.

So only the 3ds games stretch out? I was wondering that b/c of the DSi XL also should be "stretching" its sscreens out since it's you know, 93% bigger screen size... but I guess that's not it then, heh. I always like to stretch the screens out and the top part, black lines are kinda annoying :<

Also about my avatar like 4 ppm sent me a tell about this already... I've been here 6 years and that's like 1/4th of all my PMs

The stretching isn't about the size on the screen, but the aspect ratio...
The DS/i/XL all hade the same aspect ratio (4:3, same resolution, but different screen sizes), but the 3DS top screen has an aspect ratio of 16:9 & higher resolution which makes it wider, this leaves 2 black bars, one on each side to not distort the games/image.

Yes, but DS games are still stretched on the 3DS... in 2D mode the 3DS screen is 400x240 while the DS/i/XL screens are all 256x192... So DS/i games are stretched to 320x240 and the image is interpolated to keep it from looking blocky.

It's not the same as playing a DS/i game on DSi XL because while the DSi XL screen is bigger there is NO ADDED RESOLUTION. The screens just contain LARGER pixels, and thus the image looks more blocky.

Ya, i know, my reply was to CCNaru's latest post, i guess i forgot to mention that it still stretch the games because of the higher resolution as you said, but my point was that it wont stretch (and i wouldn't want it to) DS games to fill the top widescreen as that would render the games really ugly most of the times(Can't understand people running 4:3 TV/video content stretched out on their 16:9 sets...)
