I'm pleased to see more dating sims being translated. Thanks for your work, can't wait to try it out.

Oh man, I've been waiting for a translation/patch since the game came out.
Thank you so much for taking time out to translate this!

For the hacking, I think I figured out some way to make it work. I will need to test the script insertion with some actual translations though.

The text in the game has 3 parts.

- Arm9.bin text.

- .dat text (Town info, merchandise info, gossip info, etc.)

- .wsb txt. (Even dialogs.)

Arm9.bin can be left until other parts are done.

.dat files' format isn't complicated. As long as the texts fit within the space provided, there shouldn't be any problem.

.wsb files still have some problems, but they kind of work somehow.

Anyway, I still haven't done with the program yet. (There are still some parts that I have to manually trace and update the codes. I'm still trying to figure out how to make a program to do that.

I'm glad you're making progress with the inserter

Just to let you know, I'm not dead xD I finished re-editing the first script file (It had been translated without knowing who was saying each line, so my friend re-translated the bits she needed to)

And also, the second script file's being translated now. So I'll let you know when that's done.

Some screenshots with my test text. I changed the smaller font to the bigger font as it's easier to read. But you'll have to discuss with your translator whether it's possible to fit the text in the limited space with this new font. (It's much fatter.)

For these pics, I only tested text insertion for .dat files and arm9.bin. The ones in .wsb files still have problems that I haven't fixed yet. (Please don't mind the translation for my test texts. They are partially machine translated.

Pic 1: arm9.bin text

(You'll have to adjust the blank space for YES and NO to make them center though.)

Pic 2: endview.dat.txt

Pic 3: goods.dat.txt
002hk.png

(The rest of the text in this pic is embedded in the graphic though. And you can see that "Fishing Tackle" (14 characters) almost goes out of the space, so I'd say the optimized text length for these product names is 13 character. (14 is still okay, but 13 or less will make them look better.

By the way, for reference, here's the pic of the old font which I think it's hard to read.

Woah... just WOAH! It looks great. New font looks much clearer but I could cope with the smaller one if new would cause problems or be troublesome and tedious to make. Anyways, keep up the good work. I wish you luck.

As I had said before, I'm really impressed with the new font - it looks much better and easier to read ;]

Right now my translator is working on the 2nd script file (Well the one labelled "act_050_horo_hajimete" as I think it's the next major plot point)

And also, I think the other file with the common elements (_event_header) has already been translated too.

I'll send you the re-edited Script 1 (which I re-edited to fix the speaker issues), and the other file tomorrow, as it's really late for me right now

(Basically just letting you know it's still being worked on, just quite slowly because we're both busy, lol xD)

It is Horo.
Not Holo.
Official localization of Spice and Wolf uses Holo. Though I like Horo more, Holo and Horo are the same in Japanese (as I'm sure almost everyone knows...since there isn't actually a "lo" in Japanese) and so I don't really have any complaints if they want to follow what the official localization was instead of the fansubbers who subbed the anime.

Yeah, me and my translator/s both agree that Holo is more suitable, since it's used in the official localization of the Light Novels and the Anime as well.. So we'll be using that spelling

On the Wiki page for Spice and Wolf it even says
QUOTE
Concerning the spelling of Holo's name, Yen Press has stated that they "were instructed that the proper spelling of the character's name is indeed Holo" by the Japanese licensor
Apologies if anyone has a problem with that XD

Well, it is a translation for the people that would want to play this game. You can put up a poll to see which spelling of the name people prefer.

Well in all fairness, it's a translation we are doing.. so at the end of the day, we'll be translating it how we want to.
And we're choosing to use Holo, because that is her official name, and we prefer it that way
smile.gif

QUOTEThe translation is 'holo', common sense dictates that 'holo' be used.

Thank you. The romanization could technically be Horo I suppose, but it's been said in many places that Holo is the correct spelling.
