Hi, everybody! I am the 'someone' who updates the nesDS(EX). I come here and want to know if you guys have any idea upon nesDS...
The reason I do this work is that some NES games I want to play do NOT work well on nesDS, so I just tried to fix it..
I come from China. In the recent weeks, I spent my days working on the Chinese NES games or the ones translated into Chinese. Now that the games I love work fine on nesDS.
I have spent half a year on this. If anyone want some games to work on nesDS, just tell me

I have a few games for request:
1. Punch-Out. The graphics are jumbled, which is kinda distracting.
2. Action 52. It's a really bad game, but I want to have it on my DS for novelty reasons.
3. Games with PCM sound. They work, but the PCM sound (like the drums in Mario 3) is missing. It would be great if you could get the audio to play properly in these games.

Also, can you bring back the flicker setting from 0.31? The video filters in 0.40b aren't very good.

After Burner is my ultimate favorite NES game, but most of the sprites (mostly the background ones and most of them on the title screen) are totally missing when playing the game, making it unplayable.

Thank you SO much for joining the forum huminghao! We all have many ideas!

Okay, first thing, FIX THE TOUCH SCREEN MENU if possible. The touchscreen menu has been troublesome in practically every version of NESDS so far, so it would REALLY be appreciated if we could bring up the menu with a button, and during using the menu, you can USE THE BUTTONS to select what you want to and pause the game in the meantime.

as for games, I'd like to see punch-out working without glitches.

Also, can you fix the glitchy HUD in akamajou dracula boku dracula-kun (kid dracula)?

Can you fix Armadillo (J)? It's glitchy as crap, and hal of the backgrounds dissapear when you jump.

Cheetahmen II resets itself if you press start at the title screen, making it unplayable. can this be fixed?

Qix has a very glitchy playing field, can this be fixed?

Thank you for all the work you've done and any that you might do in the future

I can't think of any others to add to the list at the moment, but fixing the audio issue and garbled graphics that Yaymii mentioned are things I'd like to see too. I had always thought the mixed up graphics were some sort of ROM dumping error but I've seen it on any version I've ever tried, and on both the regular Punch Out and Mike Tyson's Punch Out versions.

Yes, thank you very much for your work updating nesDS.
As far as compatibility, of the games I play only 2 still have severe issues:

Wizards and Warriors (HUD disappears after the 1st level)
Startropics (garbage graphics in HUD during conversations and other instances)

On the features side, a few that would be nice are

PCM sound emulation (this would pretty much be the main feature, that would really complete this emulator)
arg support
Support for loading in DSi mode through sudokuhax.

Oh, and I almost forgot:
It'd be cool if you could implement some form of light-gun support. But you'll need to make it more difficult than just touching where you want to shoot, because that would ruin the experience.
Because I'm dying for Duck Hunt on the go.

I am sorry that I just know little about the NES SOUND. I find that the sound does NOT work perfectly in some games. I have no plan to update the sound now, maybe later I will...

Some guys else also told me that the TOUCH SCREEN MENU does work very well, because it may be hard for their DS to touch the right 'STRING'. Ok, I will try to rewrite the whole MENU thing. Also I will try to fix the games you mentioned above one by one...

That's a problem that happens with the earlier DS models, if I'm not mistaken.
When playing nesDS on my very first black DS Lite, the touch screen was extremely buggy.
But now, when playing on a silver DS Lite, it works like a charm.
It works perfectly on a metallic pink Lite and on the Red/Black one, too.

I get bugginess on my DS Phat Grey. Many others do too. I can't even count how many times I've saved a state when I wanted to load a different ROM and vice versa, So, for me and many others, I see no problem with having the menu controllable by button.

Major thanks to you huminghao for trying to fix the menu and those games. Not many coders are this open and willing to commit, let alone coders for the DS. You have my respect and thanks.

That is why I add the modifications to each update? It does the same for me, but my brother's DS is just fine with it.

yeah, and that IS a solution, but let's not look a gift horse in the mouth - if huminghao will try, let him try - then you won't have to keep on making mods

Hi, I come here to tell you that some games are supported now...
'Flicker' fixed, much better now.

Punch-Out(mapper 9) works , no gfx mess.
Action 52(mapper228) and Cheetahmen II work well. Some games' CHR-ROM are larger than 256k, and that makes the orignal nesDS unable to emu them.

personuser, Do you know that there is a option of 'Sprite' under the 'Display' menubar? Maybe you can have try... I didnot find glitchy in 'akamajou dracula boku dracula-kun'
Armadillo(mapper 118) works better now, not perfect. You will not miss the BG any more.
Cheetahmen II(mapper228) works now.

Qix.. I dont understand this game, so I dont know what should I do...

After Burner(mapper68), Sorry that I forgot to fix it, next version I will.

Wizards and Warriors, I played it a little, found nothing wrong, so I did nothing to it...
Startropics, this game need a software render method with BG to get rid of the mess. nesDS didnot have this figure yet. I am now writing some codes to support it, but there is too much work, I need time..

light-gun... I also want it... no plan yet.

Is there anything wrong with mario 3? It runs well on my iDS.

argv.. I dont know how it works, can anybody give me an example(with source of course)? . I know that moonshell2 can return to the main menu of Flash-Card, but how?

Thank you for taking the time to ask what people would like to see fixed/implemented in nesDS=)

Here's an explanation about ARGV from the Homebrew Menu site. Hope that it helps a bit.

huiminghao thank you very much!

Mario 3 missing square channel (pcm) its true. You can compare it on any windows nes emu, and play the first stage. Then on nesDS. You´ll notice the difference of "drumming" which isn´t exist in nes DS.

And the touchscreen bugs. The app is well coded, but the range-per-string sector in touchscreen methods it´s too smal perhaps. Also, that´s because most DS touchscreen need to be re-calibrated or either messed up, causing bugs.

I´ve own/tested 4 DSes on nesDS:

2 brand new. Both brand new touchscreen´s BlackOnix DSlite works perfectly, but the other 2 have known layer-touch problems (ie in games like trauma center), and also they´ll fail to get nes DS touch strings properly detected, like saving instead of loading states, etc.

To those with those touchscreen problems, you should touch the surroundings of the option you want, and you´ll see the button actually works
