I'm glad I came here before I turned Rock Band on last night. I've not had free time for a month, and I finally got an extra USB hard drive with the songs. Thankfully I set the clock back before I launched the game... I didn't have any problem with RawkSD 3 claiming it's expired. I did turn off the wireless connection, too... and even though I'll lose the leaderboads, I'm not going to re-enable it until I'm sure it won't disable RawkSD.

I think the entire "no pirated dlc" thing is kinda stupid. Are we supposed to believe that no one is using downloaded isos to import tracks from other games?
Pirated DLC is pirated DLC.

Imported songs may or may not be pirated.

It's not rocket science idiot.

If you don't like it, don't use the program and stop posting about it.

It's funny how there are so many comments about piracy with use of RawkSd but in fact what RawkSD is actually copyright infringement... a person exercises one of the exclusive rights of the copyright holder without authorization.... as these songs were not intended to be used with Rockband 2 or 3 but were meant for use with Guitar Hero products specifically or the original Rock Band... then it is copyright infringement... so for all those that feel they are being high and mighty that they do not support piracy... then review the law... they are still committing an illegal act of copyright infringement... and equally illegal... so step down from you soap box... and stop trying to sound like you aren't doing anything wrong... because I am sure both companies and the artists behind the music wound still see the act as illegal and actionable... so to all those that say they don't support piracy...

SHut the hell up...

There's a difference between not supporting something and explicitly disallowing it. If you want to pirate your DLC, go ahead, just don't ask the RawkSD devs how to do it, or to help you do it, or to do it for you. According to U.S. copyright law, HBC is an illegal copyright circumvention application, simply because it exploits programming errors in the console to bypass code signature verification. If you really want to go down that route the only legal use of a Wii is to buy the games on disc or from the Wii Store and play them from their original discs or official channels, no homebrew, no alternative loaders, nothing. So... if that's where you're going then what the heck are you doing on this site again? It's funny how the people making the biggest fuss about this are all fighting FOR piracy. If you don't like the fact that someone else isn't going to spoon-feed you stolen goods, go write your own frakking loader and quite your whining.

The vast majority of the whining is from people like you. Get over yourself.

Get over myself... Dumb ass RawkSD is just as illegal as pirating... get over yourself.... and btw I don't want anything from the RawkSD devs... but don't try to justify one thing while clearly what they offer is equally illegal

yeah a thing that allows you to run customs and imported songs is just as illegal as downloading 1000+ dlc songs for free

Except, of course, annoy the crap out of them.

Get off the internet, will ya? It is often used for illegal downloads, and therefore "equally illegal", no matter how you use it.

Unless they've changed something in the expiration check since beta 3, resetting the date should be sufficient. At one point they had used a MOTD exploit to crash it after the expiration date, but tueidj said he patched that so it couldn't be exploited anymore. I'm pretty sure disabling the leaderboards has nothing to do with it.

Okay so I have read through most of this thread and searched on the internet for answers. Am I to assume that there is no way for me to at this point install or use Rawksd on my Wii? Any information anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated.

RawkSD 2.02 is still usable. You will need to use Dop-Mii to install an older version of IOS37 with all patches enabled since the RawkSD patcher doesn't handle new IOS37 revisions. RawkSD v3 beta revisions also come out every once in a while, for a month at a time.

I think RawkSD 3 should still be usable -- just set the calendar back to January.

I've not had any issues with RawkSD 3 since I switched to a 16G SDHC card. Most of the crashes seem to have gone away (there's still an occasional one when switching band members, which I've seen other reports about).

Every song I've tried to play works fine, even those that used to lock-up when using RiiFS or the the USB hard drive. (Maybe I should prefix that with 'almost' -- but I can't remember any that have, and I've got a notepad sitting out to record any that do).

Best of all, my earlier reported sync issues with the drums also disappeared once I stopped using RiiFS, and even the USB hard drive.

(I might venture that everything would be perfect if I didn't need to keep setting the date backwards on the Wii)

Something for those who like to tinker:

I poked around the rb3 wii keyboard a bit and made a test app, just to show what data it sends to the wii. DON'T RUN IT WITH ANY OTHER USB DEVICES CONNECTED TO YOUR WII. Press the A button after it starts, it should dump a lot of USB info then show a row of zeroes which is actually the data being polled from the device and should change as you press buttons on the keyboard.

In theory this should also work with the RB guitar and drums, maybe even pro guitars and midi adaptors. Anybody want to try them out and see if they can decode the info that is displayed?

I had a look at this a while ago using SimpleHIDWrite.exe, hoping to use the keyboard with a PC without MIDI. Didn't get far because I'm not much of a programmer.
I've thrown my data (RB3 Keyboard + RB1 Guitar + LEDs) into a Google Docs spreadsheet:
https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0Am...uthkey=CP3B-6QK

If anyone has the VID/PID for the PS3 version of the RB3 keyboard let me know, I'm hoping to make a simple converter without going the MIDI-Pro way.

Your keyboard info pretty much matches what I had figured out: http://pastie.org/private/7gqj1tosbr35yskpvkbfwq
Can't seem to find the tilt sensor info in there anywhere.

Supposedly setting the fourth byte in the output report (after the LED value) does something to do with auto-calibration (possible values=0,0x40,0xFF), but I don't have any of those instruments.

Your info clears up the confusion I was having with the last key and velocity, and I see I have a few other small errors I need to fix.
Why would the keyboard have a tilt sensor?

overdrive, perhaps?
Seems like a good idea for keytar mode, but no, there is no tilt sensor in the keyboard.
