That is a good question... I've only been getting reports of NeoGamma not working since making d2x v2 base 56 ModMii's recommended cIOS249. Prior to that ModMii recommended cIOSv20 base 56 for a looooong time, and I never heard anything about NeoGamma failing during that time... that being said... that doesn't necessarily mean cIOSv20 base 56 was working... so you raise a very good question indeed.

If someone is able to do some testing to get to the bottom of this, I would greatly appeciate it (as I'm sure many others would too), thx!

I'll go back to v3 unless the issue is resolved in the upcoming beta.QUOTE(davebaol @ Feb 16 2011, 09:31 PM) Well, it doesn't work for me with any cios.
Tested rev17, rev21, d2x-v2, d2x-v3, d2x-v4
It doesn't work for me either with d2x-v3, does the game need a special setting?
Because the game starts, i see the ronimo logo, but after that i get a white square, then when i press a button again, a black screen. But it is not frozen, because i can press the reset button on the wii to restart.

Exactly as found in this compatibility list:

cIOSX d2x v3beta5

d2x v3beta5 is a fix for the multiple partitions support introduced by the FAT module from the previous beta release.

Changelog:
  • Enabled multiple partition support in FatFs
  • Extended ioctlv commands for mounting the desired USB/SD partition (default is 0 for backward compatibility)

The FFS module is the same as v3beta3.
The EHCI module is the same as v2

To test multiple partitions support download Mighty Channels beta5-MOD-d2x-v3beta5.

How to build and install

[*]Download d2x v3beta5 modules from mirror 1 or mirror 2[*]Download ModMii v4.4.8 or higher[*]Install ModMii[*]Copy d2x v3beta5 modules inside ModMii folder modules\W21Modules overwriting the old ones
NOTE: If ModMii was already installed before and d2x has been downloaded already then you MUST remove from the COPY_TO_SD\WAD folder all the files whose name ends with "-v21d2x.wad"[*]Launch ModMii[*]Enter "I Agree"[*]Enter "4" to navigate to Download Page 4[*]Add to the download queue all the cIOSX rev21d2x wads you need, for example "249dx56" and "250dx57"[*]Enter "D" to download selected files[*]Enter "Y" to start downloading[*]ModMii will incorrectly label the wad files as "invalid" and will try building them twice.
It's absolutely normal since the some modules have been replaced and MD5 check fails.
It is safe to ignore the following error in this instance:

Checking entries in COPY_TO_SD\Download_Log.md5
COPY_TO_SD\WAD\cIOS[]-v21d2x.wad: Invalid
Results: 1 files processed, 0 good files, 1 bad files.
[*]Install the wad files with a Wad Manager
NOTE: despite the file name it's a real rev21d2x-v3beta5[*]You're done! Please test and report

So far so good on the other betas, and I want to try this one, but on the download page I'm
getting

I think he "lol'd" at the following...

@ XFlak:
Ever considering porting it to wii homebrew?I'm assuming IceIceBird meant porting ModMii to wii homebrew.... which is impossible to do. It's possible to build a similar app that runs on the Wii, but it would have to be re-written from the ground up, not ported. And even then... it is impossible to have ANY wii app that can do everything ModMii can. In order to run a Wii app, the user would first need to launch an exploit and most likely install the HBC before running any other homebrew app on the wii. So no wii app can prepare an sd card with an exploit on a virgin Wii. And that is just ONE example of why any wii app like pimpmywii can never be a complete softmodding solution.

Actually, I lol'd at this:

Hence why I asked the question about ModMii being a batch script.

I don't mean to start anything, but it seems like at least every other post by you is genitalia stroking about ModMii which, as I'm assuming it's just a batch script packaged with a few GNU executables, seems a bit silly to me.

Anyways, I am in full support of a Wii-based installer for d2x, seeing as I am a Linux user and Wine isn't the best at "emulating" (Before anyone freaks out, I am fully aware that Wine is a compatibility layer and not an emulator) batch scripts.

I prefer to spend my time on the cios rather than on the installer.
If anybody else want to do it I'll be glad to use his installer.

And ModMii is a great tool for almost everything you need to hack your wii.
Without ModMii d2x wouldn't exist at all since Waninkoko has never released the source code for the installer.

dude, that's harsh!

ModMii is "just" a batch script... but its the largest and most versatile batch script ever written... and that is a fact. That may not be something most ppl would be proud of because any1 in their right mind would not spend 1500+ hours on a 20,000+ line batch script when they could probably spend less time writing a similar app in a more sophisticated programming language... but I'm not most ppl. I am proud to have written what is probably the most widely used batch script ever made, and why shouldn't I be? I've indirectly helped thousands upon thousands of ppl mod their wii's with my program, and never bricked a single person. Anyways, I don't want to go on too much about modmii otherwise I risk proving your point.

Anyways, the point is... I started writing ModMii initially so I didn't need to repeat myself a million times... when some1 has an upside-down homebrew channel, instead of explaining how to fix it, now i can tell them to run ModMii's hackmii solutions feature. ModMii does it all, it may not be up for app of the year (although I think it should be, but that's a different story all together) but take it for what it is... which is an interactive soft modding guide. ModMii kicks the shit out of any other guide on the internet, and it is the ONLY legal offline guide ever made (unless u count the complete softmod guide, which I am also a contributor to).

And FYI, I've done more for community than just ModMii... heck I am playing a small part in the new ultimate cIOS this thread is all about! Anyways, I don't want to start shit either, and there is no "beef" between us, we're cool, but I had to say my 2 cents.

Sorry to have gotten so off topic dave, I mean no disrespect, and I'll post the hashes of your latest beta when I get a chance.
Cheers

to start up (after the white square) and i got a full nand dump (made with simple fs dumper) on my FAT32 USB HDD, not an build nand from modmii or whatever

It does not make sense.
blink.gif

The only difference between v3beta3 and v3beta4 is in the fat module and should not affect Mighty Channel beta5.
Please test the previous v3betas and also v2 and v1 if needed, so to find the oldest d2x release which makes it work for you.
Thanks

Ok here goes :

v2 series don´t work...

v3 beta 1 : it loads the first time, but thats it (can´t get it to work after the first boot)
v3 beta 2 : works (tried it 5 times in a row)
v3 beta 3 : works (same as beta 2)
v3 beta 4 : sorry, but i could only get it to work 2 out of 5 times
v3 beta 5 : can´t get it to work

all test was made with 248 base 38 (used 249 base 38 and change it to 248) and Mighty Channels Beta 5 (i installed every wad as an clean install, deleted my old ios first)
btw i forgot to mention after the white square loading time is around 32 - 35 sec

Cheers

Thanks Dave - you rock! A quick test of v2 shows no problems with 249-56. Also, it may be spurious but even GH6 with the wifi on didn't stutter at all as it did with v1 & Wanins original 249v21 (as reported by netspy).
yaywii.gif

I found the time to test GH6 with 249[56]v21d2x v2, and the lags specific to GH6 are still there.
I don't use wifi but the official USB LAN Adapter, I don't know if matters.

Please can you try through a wireless connection?
I need to know if the problem comes through usb only

If you don't understand what we're talking about, here is what we wrote in the old topic :
netspy said:
If you look carefully at this video (gh6_lag.mpg), the picture seems to be shortly freezing at 0'10 (focus on the grey background, it's easier to see it this way).
No matter the version of cIOSX rev21 you are using, here is the fix :
QUOTE(sock99 @ Jan 29 2011, 05:42 PM) when I came to GH6 & played Burn it stuttered every 30 secs or so. However, I unplugged my Wi-fi & restarted the Wii and played the same track with no problems. So can you try with disconnecting your wi-fi & see if it's any better?

Some explanations first :
- I've used 3 differents USB hubs : an USB 1.1 hub (noname), an USB 2.0 hub (provided with the "We Sing: 2 microphones" pack), and the Rock Band 3 Keyboard dongle, that is also an USB 1.1 hub.
- I've done my tests using d2x-v2, IOS56 base.
- HDD was always plugged on USB0.

Connected using LAN Adpter
  • USB1 : USB 1.1 HUB --> 2x logitech USB mic + Rock Band 3 Keyboard Bundle + USB LAN Adapter
    -> Random lag
  • USB1 : USB Lan Adapter
    -> No lag

Connected using Wi-Fi

  • USB1 : Nothing
    -> No lag
  • USB1 : USB Lan Adapter
    -> No lag
  • USB1 : USB 1.1 HUB --> 2x logitech USB mic + Rock Band 3 Keyboard Bundle + USB LAN Adapter
    -> Random lag
  • USB1 : USB 1.1 HUB --> 2x logitech USB mic + Rock Band 3 Keyboard Bundle
    -> Random lag
  • USB1 : USB 1.1 HUB --> 2x logitech USB mic
    -> Random lag
  • USB1 : Rock Band 3 Keyboard Bundle
    -> No lag
  • USB1 : Rock Band 3 Keyboard Bundle --> 1x Logitech USB mic
    -> No lag
  • USB1 : Rock Band 3 Keyboard Bundle --> 1x Logitech USB mic + USB LAN Adapter
    -> Random lag
  • USB1 : Rock Band 3 Keyboard Bundle --> 2x Logitech USB mic
    -> Random lag
  • USB1 : USB 2.0 HUB --> 2x logitech USB mic + Rock Band 3 Keyboard Bundle + USB LAN Adapter
    -> Random lag

Ok, so, what can we conclude from that? I'm not sure, but it seems to me that the random lag problem occurs not because of the LAN Adapter, but when too many devices are plugged on the USB1 port using an USB hub.
It took me hours to do these tests, so if someone could confirm that's a correct explanation, I'll be more than happy.
What I find quite surprising is that there is no lag at all, when using the retail GH:WoR disc from disc channel. So it's not a matter of USB power that the wii can deliver.
