I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for a dump tonight. It would surprise me if none of the scene groups have a copy yet.

After I play through DQVI, I've decided I'm going to play DWI-III for the GBC, and then try to obtain discs of VII and VIII. Last year I realized Dragon Quest is one of my favorite series ever, so I think I should try to play every game in it.

Honestly, it's the first time in my life I see a dump of such a major NDS game take sooooooo long to appear. I may be exaggerating, but the wait is killing me. I can't even play Tactics Ogre before I play this.

There are translations for Dragon Quest 1+2 on the Super Famicom, as well as the Dragon Quest 3 remake for SNES. If you'd rather play them in full color, that's what I recommend.

Finally managed to get my copy from Gamestop. With slime plushie. Rock on.

Anyway, if you have the ability, BUY THE GAME! It's really a miracle that we got it at all, given that Square Enix dropped it from their lineup, and it took Nintendo and a fair amount of success from DQIX to get it over here.

Unfortunately, can't play until tonight. But I've waited this long, Ill survive for a bit longer. I'm just glad to finally have my copy in-hand.

They have them in English on the GBC as well. No need to play a trans-patched version.

Nah, for the original trilogy, I like the nostalgic feel of the GBC versions. I got pretty far into III already, but ragequit for a while. I just got done with the pyramid, and it's getting crazy hard. I got to the room with 8 guarded treasure chests in the pyramid, and only opened one because the enemies guarding them can destroy me by the time I get there. My priest runs out of MP keeping everyone healed. I did so much grinding, and it didn't get any easier.

If anyone's played all the way through DWIII, does it get easier again, or am I going to have to start stocking items to restore MP to keep my party alive?

It's been a long time, but if I remember correctly you shouldn't bet having that much trouble where you are right now. What team are you using?

Yeah, but the colors are a little better on the SNES, and the translation was finished far after the GBC versions. It might be worth checking out if you'd rather have it in full color. But you know, whatever's clever.

Do you use the stat buff skills?
And,if I remember correctly, you could reset your stats to half the original when you change character classes with the DWIII GBC version. That way you could get the max all your stats to 255.
But still no use when battling the Divinegon after you finish the game.
He could easily wipe out my team in less than 5 turns..

Looks like my copy is waiting at home for me, can't wait to get back-- this is the only one of the main series I haven't played now. I'll admit I preordered from Gamestop for the slime plushie.

i actually prefer the GBC versions to the SNES versions of DQ1-3. It has still NES style graphics but with improved gameplay and speed

So, many guys got the game, but won't dump it, (which I totally understand, but) it makes me kinda sad.

Couldn't a single one be the saviour for us others who can't buy it?

B2T (more or less) I tried DQ 1-3 on Lameboy sometime and gotta say, they are really nice. It really sucks tho, that 4-7 (dunno about 8) got the same oldschool battle system as 1-3. :/

Hero, Fighter, Mage, Priest. They have the best gear I can get my hands on right now, because I abused savestates in the monster betting minigame so I'm far richer than I should be at this point in the game. Should I just grind? They're all level 11-13. Maybe I'll just finish raiding the pyramid no matter how much grinding it takes, and then I'll be ready to move on.

I actually love how the DQ series as a whole sticks to its tried-and-true mechanics. It doesn't try too hard to appeal to a new generation of gamers that need rapid-fire action to be entertained. Final Fantasy has been straying from its old-school battle system for a long time, but Dragon Quest sticks to its roots.

What a lot of folks don't really get about the DQ series is that the "main" series (I-IX) are all about sticking to their guns, but that's why they have spin-offs in the first place; to do new and interesting things with the DQ monsters/setting. Stuff like Rocket Slime and DQ: Monsters try something else than the main games.

This is also a weakness to the DQ it wasnt until I tried 9 that I got into the series-this is coming from a guy that grew up with breath of fire-Im glad that Final Fantasy tries something each game like it or not its what has made the series so popular and universal because each FF has been a different experience(Haters be damned). In my eyes DQ was only ever popular in the 90's and since it refused to let up in its relentless stance on literally remaining the same game each time (First person battles? the only game that should still be doing that is Earthbound and even THATS dated) it has slipped from the average gamers eye. To be honest before IX I tried hand of the heavenly bride , DQIV and DQ monsters joker, monsters was the only one that left me with a good impression and a feeling of wanting to go back. IX changed it around and gave me a bit more of a choice in how I wanted to handle my party etc. I might just go and get me the snes version of VI tonight and see what all the fuss is about.

It depends of what you like. IMO new Final Fantasy games aren't appealing to me. I tried FFXIII and I hated it, but I can play every DQ game in the series and still feel that those games are awesome, i still love the DQ mechanichs.

Oh BTW, DQV it's the best in the series, almost made me cry, I loved that game!

I totally know what you mean. I haven't truly enjoyed a FF game after VI (with the exception of IX), but every DQ game I've played (which is all but VII and VIII) has been amazing.

Hmmm...maybe grind 2-3 more levels for everyone. I used Hero, Warrior, Fighter, Priest. Didn't find Mage spells too useful early on. I switched priest and fighter for sage and warrior for fighter later on. I remember I was able to take the claw from the pyramid and do the whole grind all the way outside with my party at that time.

Also, I love the DQ formula. Have played every DQ except for VIII and I love 'em all. DQ III in particular, first one I played. Ah, the rose colored glasses of nostalgia.
