The Wifi internet connection used to work on my Wii, modded to 3.2, 3.3, 4.1 and 4.2. At 4.2, it worked for some time, but one day, it just stopped working. I forgot what I did before that, maybe an upgrade of cfg usb loader online, or else. Anyway, the internet stopped working in system menu, homebrew channel, and everywhere else.

I thought the Wifi adaptor was broken, so recently, I bought a NYKO Wii LAN Adapter from Amazon, but LAN connection does not work either, on either USB port.

I tried to remod the wii, with the ModMii tool. I remodded it still to 4.2. Now I tried again, still not working.

LAN - connection test: Error 52122
Wifi - Error 52130 or 52131

By the way, after I did the connection test and it showed error, I checked my router assigned IP list (on my router) that actually both the LAN and the Wifi adapter have been successfully assigned IP addresses by the router DHCP server.

So Wii actually already got the IP address, but still failed to connect to internet. All my PCs and wifi cellphone connected to the same router can connect to internet.

Can anyone help me with this? Thanks a lot.

2 different devices --- 2 differents problems.

With wifi and router make sure youre router has WEP encryption its the only one supported by Wii.

With lan adapter make sure youre computer is sharing the internet connection.

Once you checked those come back here for help.

I think Wii supports WPA and WPA2 also. My wifi connection is WPA and the wii did get an IP address proves it supports WPA.

Anyway, I did another connection with the LAN adapter. This time I used wireshark to capture the IP packets filtered by the LAN adapter's MAC address. I used an ethernet hub for this test.

The capture shows that Wii first did an DHCP request, and was assigned IP by the router. Then it sent a DNS query for conntest.nintendowifi.TLD hostname. The response was no such name.

I googled and found the correct host for connection test should be conntest.nintendowifi.NET. So WHY my Wii was trying to connect to conntest.nintendowifi.TLD?

Problem fixed by NAND restore to a 4.1 backup before I upgraded to 4.2 in April, 2010. It is possible that my 4.2 upgrade caused some problem. But actually the internet worked for several days after my upgrade. I even online updated the cfg usb loader. strange!

Anyway. It is fixed now. Thanks everyone. I will now try to upgrade to 4.2 with ModMii.

I had a very similar problem, although my Wii was a 4.3E to start with. I used Indiana PWNS to mod my Wii. I then found that it wouldn't even find any networks, let alone connect to one. Error codes included 51030, 51031, 52030 & 52032.

I bought a second hand wifi module and fitted it. The Wii then found my network but would not connect. I tried WPA, WEP and open security and still it wouldn't connect. I thought it may be the router, but before I bought another one, I decided to downgrade to 4.1E first.

Several websites warn against downgrading but I followed some online instructions and it went ok.

I could then connect to the internet. It seems that some Wii's have internet issues with 4.3E and possibly 4.2 when modded.
