Yet another question, I'm trying to "transfer" from my USB drive to my PC hard drive into an .iso format. I see it create a temp file about the size of the .iso but when the job is finished it automatically deletes it? Did I select something I shouldn't have?

when you transfer your games over ,it should ask you where you want to save the game

1st add your wbfs drive in "drive 1" active it
a list of game will come up
now tick the game you want transfer , next click transfer to iso or whatever you like to save as
now a window will come up and ask you where you want it. - now hoping you got a nstc drive not fat32
it should save it to that place. Fat32 will split the file up into 2 files
now if you goto the dir it should be there. the temp file is the tmp that the program use to transfer and work with. after that ,it will save the file as iso and then delete the tmp file

Turns out that there is an option to remove the "finished" jobs. I assumed it was to remove them from the log - not completely remove the job. I toggled that setting and then selected to transfer an .iso from the USB drive to my temp folder. I watched it finish and then blip - gone! When untoggled, the .iso stays in the temp directory.

Thanks a lot for your backup manager!

I noticed a problem with Windows XP and Windows 7. In Windows XP I could copy SSBB from one HDD to another HDD without problems. But in Windows 7 after the copy progress bar reaches 100% it will just output an error. And also the MD5 hashing doesn't work with SSBB in Windows 7.

I think that has something to do with the large file size.

Tricky one. Are you sure the MD5 hash is enabled in the settings? If you have "Allow changes to Wii discs" enabled and you rename a title, the MD5 hash is removed because it isn't valid any more. In that case, you need to recalculate the hash after renaming.

Can you send me the log when the transfer fails? Are you sure you have enough space left on your temp drive?

I'm currently using version "0.3.6-build43" on Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit). HDD file system is WBFS and I still have enough space remaining (>20GB).

The only MD5 setting which I found and was activated is:
  • "Calculate MD5 hashes during transfers"

The other options which might match your suggestion are disabled, just as default:
  • "Allow permanent changes to Wii disc header"
  • "Allow changes to WBFS disc header"

Here you go!

The log output after the failed MD5 calculation + transfer of SSBB NTSC (RSBE01):

I'm afraid that's a bug I've been trying to track down since the beginning of time (it feels like it anyway). I just can't find the cause of the read error. It's pretty much random but happens consistently with the same WBFS disc (the same game on the WBFS drive).

It happens when the app tries to read the data from the drive, but it just doesn't. No amount of read retries will help and even recreating the handle doesn't help either. My theory is that it's related to sector alignment, but buffered reads don't need to be sector aligned.

The reason I can't fix it is because I can't reproduce it, it's never happened to me. Believe me, I've tried for many hours. As soon as I can reproduce it, it'll get fixed in no time at all.

A new piece of the puzzle you gave me is that it works in Xp, but not Win7. Surely that suggests some kind of configuration problem. Maybe enabling the write cache would help, or changing the power options. The "Handle is invalid" error would suggest that the drive is unavailable so maybe the drive is spinning down? No doubt other people will reply saying they have the problem in XP, but not Win7.

I think after this release that I'll have a go at rewriting the WBFS code. I want to fully support GameCube and editing/building Wii ISOs from scratch, so a full rewrite is needed anyway. This bug has cropped again up a few times in the past week, so it needs to be addressed.

BTW, other managers don't have this problem, so you can use any one of them to transfer the problem games to ISO or whatever.

@thepregnantgod
Hmmm. I think you might be experiencing the same issue as DR_HAMMER, but I can't confirm it without the log. The remove finished jobs option is only used for the cover downloads just now.

Just a thought. Maybe I can't reproduce this problem because I'm using WBM to fill the WBFS drive. It could be that WBFS Manager or another manager is doing something strange. All my backups are either .wbfs or RAR'd ISOs. What a nightmare that's going to be using WBFS Manager.

Version 0.3.8 Build 60

Changelog
0.3.8 build 60
|-fixed: A couple of names in the about box showed as question marks because my source code formatter didn't work with unicode characters. I works as it should now.
|-Fixed: Trailing backslashes are removed from paths in the settings.
|-Added: Empty or zero sized drives aren't shown in the format dialog.
|-Added: WBFS "virtual sector size" in format dialog, with a warning that it's not usable until we can get support for it in the cIOS.
|-Added: Only valid FAT32 cluster sizes are shown in the format dialog.
|-Changed: Default cover images from lustar.
|-Fixed: DVD write speed wasn't read correctly from the Settings.ini.
|-Added: Ignore critical errors with floppy drives, when there's no disk in the drive. Needs tested to make sure I've covered all the places where it can happen.

0.3.8 build 59
|-Fixed: Finally tracked down the duplicate drive bug, when a new drive was inserted.
|-Added: Disc info cache to speed up listing the contents of a "FAT" drive. The "disc.info" file is stored in the WBFS folder.
|-Changed: "Jobs" tab is now the "Downloads" tab.
|-Added: All downloaded covers are stored in the cache folder, so it's quicker to sync with different drives/loader configuration etc. Updating is possible too because they're stored by region and type.
|-Added: Preset cover configuration for popular USB loaders. Simply select the loader and your base cover folder. Certain cover types are disabled for the loader when it doesn't use them.
|-Changed: Names of the Covers menu items reflect the fact that they also sync the cover folders when the relevant options are set.
|-Added: Cover download functions can also delete files. eg. to sync the cover folders with a drive.
|-Fixed: FAT32 format "Sectors per FAT" calculation was wrong. Maybe the cause of the problems some people have been experiencing.
|-Added: Mini log in the format dialog. Everything seen there is also in the main log.
|-Added: FAT32 format checks that were in the original source. e.g. 32KB clusters are too large for a 2GB drive.
|-Fixed: NTFS formatting only worked for fixed disks. Now the media type is set from the drive geometry info so it should work with any drive type.
|-Fixed: Error when zero sized files were loaded, causing the thread to terminate and not list all the games.
|-Fixed: Writing CISO was broken...again.
|-Fixed: Jobs page wasn't translated.
|-Fixed: Some of the controls weren't resized with the settings dialog, causing long translated strings to be cut short.

I get this error on start every time for the last two versions 60 and 58. Any reason why?

Either delete your settings.ini or edit it to remove the whole [Columns] section.

The newer versions use compressed data because it wasn't saving/loading correctly when it was uncompressed.

edit: Does the app still function as normal, just with the logged error?

The app still functions as normal with the error logged. Deleting the [Columns] section does resolve the issue.

Thanks.

ETA: One other question. With the older versions of the app, 0.3.4r5 for instance, when I renamed a game, it made the rename permanent. With the newer versions, it does not do this. It is still "aware" of the original name. How can I make the rename function the same as the previous versions?

I've updated the main post with release info for version 0.1.2.

Any bug reports, feature requests, comments etc. would be appreciated. Cheers.

Edit: I forgot to mention that I borrowed the default "no image" covers from Configurable. I hope it's OK, otherwise I'll remove them straight away. My artwork sucks, so it would be great if i can use them.

I created some blank covers for you if you want to use them. Or if you want some changes made just let me know. Here's a link to check them out...

I'm confused on how to sync covers with a connected drive. I selected sync and download missing but none of the covers got transferred to my drive. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

For now, you need to set the base cover folder in the settings. It's been suggested and is obviously a good idea to sync with the mounted drive automatically too.

I think the best way is to have a "configure cover folders" item in the covers menu to allow you to set up the folders per drive. This cover config would be saved to the drive so you only need to do it once.

@2FastLX
I think the fairest way to do this is to set up the public shared folder on 4Shared so people can upload their own versions of the default covers, export templates etc. Then other users can get the versions they like best.

When I do the online update function, I could include alternative covers, languages and templates in the optional downloads too.

@atrophis
I'll look into the column mix up.

To change the titles permanently, enable "Allow changes to WBFS disc header". You can also "Allow permanent changes to Wii disc header" which really is permanent. The original title will be gone for good.

Older versions had these enabled by default, but some people were changing things they didn't mean to. So by default now, nothing is permanently changed. All title changes are saved to the custom titles file, which can be used in the loader too.

@jesquinas
That's just me, I've always done that. I know it's a standard but I think it looks better with just 2.
