So I am modding my friends wii following this guide when attempting to install priloader I notice I made a noob mistake thinking his wii was on 4.3 when it is actually on 3.4. So should I just run the file for sub 4.2 then follow the steps again for 4.2/4.3 or will this mess up the wii?

Just run the files for sub 4.2, you will be fine.

QUOTE(zizer @ Jan 25 2011, 02:09 AM) use modmii

While modmii is an awesome tool. He can complete what he wants with this.

Thanks for the responses. I ended up running modmii which is working out fine though I think it took me longer to do since Iv never used it before but now that I have I think this might be my preferred way to go. This also introduced me to Wiiflow which looks awesome but im not sure if its as compatible as usb loader gx which I have been using for quite some time. Well anyways thanks again.

@xzxero/burritoboy:

As you know, waninkoko's cIOS revs 20 and 21 can produce a controller lag for some hard drives. Yesterday, davebaol identified the bug that causes this issue and compiled a modified EHCI module that has the controller lag fixed.

The mod of cIOSx rev 21 (base 56 or 57) has all the advantages of the official one (fast loading times, excellent compatibility, NAND emulation etc), and does not have the controller lag. See here for more details.

I suggest that you could add this modified cIOS to your guide since it improves cIOS rev21 and doesn't have any bad side effects.

Yes, I have been following the thread since the first post. This guide has never been in a rush to update things due to bugs etc... Normally after something has been out a couple of weeks and been deemed safe, we update the guide. So to answer your question, in roughly a week or so (barring no major bugs with it). The guide will be updated

Yes it is good that you and xzxero take your time to update the guide, as extensive testing may reveal bugs/limitations.

Thanks for making a such an excellent wii modding guide!

Yup, I didn't even know about it until your post or I would have added it today. Will update the file packs tomorrow, and have xz update the post when he logs in.

Hey, great guide. I have used it. Thanks for the work.
Just noticed this though.

1/28/2010
*Added Bathaxx exploit for all Wii's on 4.3x. Thanks lewurm!

Should be 2011, not to be picky but it might confuse some people.

Thanks again for the work you put in to make this a great guide for wii modding.

Thanks for the great tutorial. I haven't been following the Wii scene for a long time... I am still in firmware 4.1.

Is it worth it to update my Wii to 4.3 and mod it or is it the same as 4.1?

Also, I would like to know if it is already possible to play Wii games through a FAT or NTFS partition. If so, is the compatibility the same?

No, just update to 4,2 and follow the guide. It will update your ios's (which is all that matter) to 4.3's.

Yes, most if not all usb loaders are compatible with fat/ntfs.

is it necessary to install wanikoko's or hermes cIOS in order to run backups off an external drive? i haven't done so and the few backups i've tried have worked. is there a benefit to doing so? i'm using usbloadergx.

You must have something installed. Backups don't run unless you have a cIOS. If you run in to problems then try installing the latest ones.

I have a 4.1U firware Wii (was originally a Japanese console, but change the console region and system menu using a guide i founhd when updating to 4.1)
It has the latest version of homebrew installed and plays my backups via neogamma etc etc.

i want to update to 4.2 (and then install the newer priiloader (currently on prelaoder .029)) and hopefully start playing my backups via a usb loader)

so because i already have homebrew installed, i can just run the YAWM multimod batch via homebrew channel, and this will update my system menu to 4.2U (safely.

when i run the YAWM multimod batch however, it asks me which IOS version i want to use.

which one should i choose???

please help

sorry just to clarrify i am looking at the first step in the guide and using the files i got from up42u.zip.

so because i have the latest hombrew channel 1.08 of whatever, i dont need to run bannerbomb. i can just go straight into the homebrew channel, select YAWM multimod batch

when it asks which IOS version to use, which one should i choose??

36, it shouldn't have automatically selected it. But manually select it I guess....

thanks for the speedy reply. i really appreciate it.

this is actually the second time i am trying this (i did it before, and had no trouble, but for some reason no matter what i did, i couldnt get any usb loader to mount ANY usb drive, and i tried like 10 different drives) so i used a previous NAND backup, and am trying again from step1 to make sure i havent messed something up.

again, thanks for your response
