can't wait to watch this movie.... er play this game? is there a game in there at all? i think the uncharted games were perhaps the first to really put emotion into their cut scenes, there is nothing new here, it is just prettier. gta iv was much to realistic for my tastes and i found i didn't want to get into it. red dead redemption was fun but it dragged on and it was very easy to beat the missions. i hope they are able to fine tune this game into something i desire to play and not just want to finish. i keep thinking of the uncharted games, i couldn't put them down.

I'm sure Team Bondi have done the best they can.

Nothing new? This is the first game I have seen that actually manages to put an actor's performance into the simulated world. Uncharted might have been nice but I remember emotional cutscenes in SNES games. L.A. Noire might not be TEH REVOLUTION!!!1 but it certainly has something new to it.

What do you mean, "put an actor's performance into the simulated world."?

You can actually recognize Aaron Staton walking around, complete with his emotional performance. Games have had recorded cutscenes with actors before but here, the actor is actually walking around in the 3D game world.

So basically it is exactly the same, only difference is instead of them using a created character skin from scratch they just used one they got from scanning the actor is what you're saying?

Yes, pretty much. And that's the reason why "exactly the same" is not an adequate description. In practice, there is a huge difference in animation quality, and thus in the range and granularity of emotions represented.
