Part of me is really happy that Sony's argument is failing, and that geohot is winning a case against a big corporation, but if they had even one competent lawyer, or even a fact-checker, this case would have turned out differently. I'm all for the right to do with my stuff as I please, and don't feel any remorse for Sony involving what they're suing over, but the way they put their argument together seems like they just took a couple of facts, wrote them on a dartboard with some random laws from around the country, and took turns throwing darts til the dartboard put their case together for them. Were they hoping the defense's lawyer would be more incompetent then their team?

Sony should have done that stupid move in the first place. Going to sue in California because our HQs are there so means more punitive actions for Geohotz. If they would of just sued that hacker w/o collaterial damage then this case will be in their favor by a good margain.

If Geohotz wins this case then Nintendo's nightmares are only just the beginning.

QUOTE(Evo.lve @ Jan 24 2011, 05:22 PM) This entire thing is making me piss my pants laughing. Someone needs to do a commentary.

Geohot | 2
Sony | 0

Part 2? Anyway I'm halfway through the post, but from the comment it sounds like Sony will do anything to win.

I guess if sony loses this one they'll find other people to sue like the people they sent letters to. With the money they have left they should just buy some Vaseline cause they've been ******.

Even though this is pretty funny, its really sad on sony's part at the same time. Trying to sue someone because they hacked something they bought with their own money, finding code that they didnt fully take the time to protect. Make him come all the way to California to be judged under their jurisdiction, to not have any of their facts connect to have a reasonable case against the guy.

Well, I guess, in between court dates, he can take in the California sun and see the sights.

Damn, maybe i need to buy a PS3, crack it open, hack it to hell (supposedly), "post all of my findings" on the internet, then get summons papers to get a free trip to California!

I swear Sony just thought:

"Alright, this guy is just a college kid. We're a big multi-billion dollar company, lets sue him. He'll fold, and we'll win."

But I don't think they realized, that Hotz went up against Apple and won. I don't think they realize, that they're not dealing with an amateur kid. He obviously went out, got a great lawyer who's just picking apart Sony's claims.

Though I'm surprised that this wasn't brought forward in the first place. Hotz himself already said that the big thing in this case was apparently he used Sony's servers to do the hack, which he claimed he did not. And to have this fake account pop up on PSN, is just ridiculous. Makes you wonder though. Why Geo1Hot or whatever the name is? Could it be because geohot's name is already taken? Hmm.

Also, if Sony loses this, and I will be surprised if they don't, and they ban his account/console and all that, geohot can just sue them as he had broken no rules. Funny how life works out huh? You make one mistake in a court case, and the defendants lawyer can just tear you apart.

Not to mention that the whole thing about the case should be held in California, because of PayPal being based there, and geohot "ASKING" for money is ridiculous. He didn't ask for money at all. He put it up there and said IF you want to donate, have at it.

The "law" was broken in New Jersey, and judge's and them people are stupid for not taking it there. But if this lawyer of geohot is as good as he's sounding, there will be no need for a court hearing in the first place.
