I won't flash my firmware because I am afraid of doing something wrong
wink.gif

And I don't think it's necessary because it's not much work to flash a homebrew game and load it via Wifime. And E3 demos don't need Flashme ^^

There's no way to know at the moment but unless Nintendo makes it so that all Online games do a bios check, it should be fine.

This is pretty much the swaying factor for me against modding with FlashMe. I'm not entirely sure that I would be able to play Animal Crossing DS when it comes out, and it's the complete motivating factor for me having a DS in the first place.

well, i do believe u can always flash back to ur original firmware, at least thats wut the noflashme.ds.gba file is for. not sure y it says not recommended tho... whether it can hurt it, or they think it would just be stupid to do, as they do not explain y it is not recomended.

dont give nintendo any ideas

j/k. the only systems i know that check for bios are like the psone emu and the segacd emu and such, besides that i dont think nintendo would go out fo their way for that, so i gues its safe to say its ok. eitherway im sure the new generation carts will include passme for those who dont watnt flashme, or cant use wifi me, or for those who need the passme for flashme.... too many me's lol

As long as the DS doesnt lose power while flashing the new firmware, you cant mess this up.
Just plug your DS into the charger and keep that thumb off the power button. and your good to go.
Flashing the original firmware back is 100% safe, as long as the Ds doesnt lose power.

Yeah, I'll have to give this a shot then!

indeed, but in my case wifime looks too much for my primitive mind

that and no wifi card anyway. of course i could always buy a passme for 25 bucks, but again when i see the loader work properly with flashme, then i suppose buying a passme for the sole purpose of flashme would be worth it, but if a flashkit came with a form of it i could just wait for that, but for others who can use wifi me and or have a passme, i suppose id say go for the flashme as its completely harmless

Hi guys,

the flashme worked fine - I had a bit of trouble at first, I flashed flashme.ds.gba to my f2a, but when I booted it via wifime, it said "gba file corrupted", so I just downloaded it again and flashed it again and bingo, no more annoying warning screen, and I can boot homebrew from wifi or flashcart.

It was really easy to bridge the SL1 connectors, just used a small screwdriver, it was all over in about 20 seconds.

Recommended,

I'm not sure if it's a bios check, but if you have a moded xbox and you go on xbox live with out turning the switch off on your chip, you're banned from xbox live, no questions asked...

Ok, it says on the site that you can't play commersial DS games with any of the 'me's. Is that true? Are they patching the roms to work around this?
And what about saves? Can it save to the GBA flash card? If it can you can surely back it up to your computer, right?

the me clans dont work on commercial yet until the loader is released, im sure it will make front page gbatemp when it is. and form what i hear yes, they are being sram or whatever patched to save on gba flashcarts. and to backup savs on the computer....well im unsure but im sure it will be a possibility eventually if it isnt.

all we can do is just have some patience, or just bribe the people who are working on these projects j/k

Just a thought: with all these "me's" coming around, and the upcoming loader and clean roms, I can clearly see Nintendo givin away Pictochat 2 or something Fancy for free...just to check if your system is a "virginal" one or not...and then, they can surely screw your DS, and with a voided warranty, thats a sweeper.

Online check will surely check, not only your system, but your cartridge as well. Im not dying for Online Play, but surely most people do. As long as I have wireless multiplayer, I can llive with a Flashed DS.

My 2 cents.

well if that event were to happen, we either find a way around it, or we all buy psp's

Im sure the scene groups are thinking about this as a possibility. Im not going to flash mine till the loader comes or till the first Legal update is up (whatever comes first (hopefully the first one)). This way, if the big N is in killer mode, I can wait till there's some kind of workaround.

The only thing that keeps seducing my wallet for a PSP is called Wipeout Pure. Besides that, I can live without a PSP for the moment.

Lets wait and hope that loader patiently...

Peace

Me I love the homebrew stuff. Still waiting for a better release of the cool Space Invaders emulator though, I cant get it to work atall for me :/

I flashed my firmeware both times and its easy. After the first time you wont have much to worry about. Really though, theres nothing that you can do to hurt your system unless the power goes out. So just do it and get it done then and you wont have any worries. Ofcourse its best to make sure you have all the right tools on hand. You dont wanna leave your NDS on for a long time, just incase say the power goes out in your house, but even then youd have 10 hours to go, so your good even then.

Now flashme is more ment for developers, homebrew fans, and poeple really hella annoyed by that health and safty notice.

Honestly Im starting to miss the ol start up screen >.>
Though it saves me a good few minutes when starting up my DS and trying to write down notes on Dante Advance or something.

But I would atleast like to have my own custom logo come up instead of jsut the fade in to white screen.
Like just a little "SEGA" logo would be good. Or maybe program my own little logo and sounds. Though theres not much space there to use, its enough for atleast a little image and maybe a system beep or something. (I think the system sounds should work, so a little system sound made song would be cool :3)

Oh and its nice to not have that passme sticking out, even since the one I orderd only works with my metroid cart :/

One thing that bugs me though is the fact that the progs on the cart always have to auto load >.<
Though jsut using a GBA header Editor should fix that, then I just need to hold down the face buttons to run code
tongue.gif
Id like that better o-o

I do hope more firmware hacks come, I want to personalize my DS alot more.

And for Commercial games, I could care less about those, but it is an extra plus to try games out with since I cant any other way
