I pre-ordered mine on december 26th. I put down $50 and the other day i put down $160.

For anyone who thinks that Pre-ordering is a waste of money its not. The money goes to the purchase of the system itself and also guarantees you a 3DS

Put my £10 deposit down this evening. Given that the supply is limited and it's already crazy popular I thought it'd be best to get something concrete to make sure I can get mine. Of course I won't know if I can truly afford it or indeed if there's gonna be any games worth getting at launch day until the 19th, but I've been wanting to have Lylat Wars at my beck and call for over a decade now.
I want Starfox 64 3D too (seewhatididthere?), it's one of my favorite games along with OoT.

+1
however, i'm not going to pre-order it
i'll wait until it comes to the country

The closest EB Games to me sold my last pre-order (DS headset) off before I got there (I went to pick up on release day, too, and I had paid a deposit with them, which thankfully I could transfer to another store), so I had to go to another one further away (which is also better). That means I will wait until I need to go half an hour driving to pre-order it - I'm not driving that far JUST for that. Various places around New Zealand have had games and consoles cheaper than EB recently, though, so I'm going to wait until I find out who has the lowest price. I'm going to pre-order, but I'm gonna wait for Nintendo to make their big announcement first, and for the stores to start putting up proper pre-orders.

I wanted to get a 3DS for my birthday, but unlike the original DS, it's not being released the day before my birthday - instead, it's being released a few weeks after it. I'm still gonna get that as a "present" though.

I'm just hoping the price isn't ridiculous.... I mean, I think the 3DS is gonna be awesome, but I'm still skeptical of just how powerful it's gonna be. Then again, if it can really play both One Piece Unlimited Cruise games on one game card, then perhaps I have nothing to fear.

If you put down just the deposit, they have full right to sell off yours. If you put down 100% ahead of time, you're guaranteed yours. (Basically, go into GameStop on the 26th, pay for it, and pick it up hassle-free the next day)

I pre-ordered mine on my way home from school (I read all the announcements in school) yesterday.

It doesn't look like I'm getting any games. Possibly Resident Evil, but it's not really my type of game and besides the first level of Resident Evil 4, I haven't played the series.

I'll probably just use it for DS games and use the pre-installed features until Ocarina of Time or Kid Icarus come out or something.

I just pre-ordered the Aque Blue today on the website of a local game store (GameMania, although I hate that store, but only store to pre-order ATM AFAIK)
Gonna have to get the games at a different store, or I will let my father buy them, because they check your age which is just stupid!

Nope, and not going to. I really haven't been shown any incentive to preorder. Well, besides Wal-marts $10 case (ooh, $10!!!)

show me some exclusive schwag, and you might get my cash.

Well, why would they let a kid spend his allowance money on a preorder, when most kids would just treat it like a layaway program?

Put £10 deposit down at HMV last week before price & date were announced. Probably going to cancel though and get it cheaper with a better deal online.

I actually was not going to pre-order it at first, I even voted as not pre-ordering it before, but just a couple hours ago today, I pre-ordered in full.
So now I can just pick it up at launch with out having to pay on launch day.

As soon as I saw the 3DS' price announced last morning I knew I had to put down my money. This morning I put down $50 for a Cosmo Black 3DS reserve. All I gotta do now is pay it off with my remaining GameStop credits and gift cards. Maybe I should've paid it off. Ah well I'll go back some weeks later and do that.

I have no plains to get the 3DS right now.

Add the $300.00 Price tag along with Eyestrain and Headaches.
Sound like a Virtual Boy with full color and Polygon Support...another flop.

I'll wait for more games that interest me, as well for consumer reports.
I don't want to buy something that can make me quickly lose my eyesight.

I'm buying the console on launch day, but whether I'll sink any money into any games remains to be seen. I'll probably buy one to test it all out with but save the rest of my money for better games like Kid Icarus, Zelda, etc.
