Hi folks, long time lurker here with a problem I just can't figure out.
I've got a brand new Red Wii here and I'm trying to get it all modded for my little brother for Christmas. I've done a lot of soft-modding before but until now I've never had to set up a softmod for purely USB loading (since the red Wii won't read DVD-Rs).
My problem is that I cannot get Rock Band games to boot using the USB CFG loader and any combination of CIOS222/223. All regular games play fine using IOS249 (which is the latest Waninkoko's provided by ModMii).
Here's what I've done sofar:
Started with a virgin red Wii, softmodded it using ModMii 1.4.4 with the Smash Bros exploit.
Installed everything ModMii told me to in the guide including Waninkoko's latest 249.
Setup USB CFG loader and have it working with a USB hard drive and have loaded several games on it.
At this point is when I discovered that the Rock Band games (RB2, Beatles) won't work the instruments just using IOS249. Before when I've done softmods the solution was to use Hermes v4 and install a merged IOS37 and 38 to slot 222 or 223 (or whatever) and then I'd use SoftChip to load the game and it would work great. Well with this new red Wii Softchip is out since the new Wiis won't read DVD-Rs - hence you must use a USB loader.
SO... I've tried using Hermes v4, v5, and v5.1 to make a dizzying array of attempts to put a CIOS into slot 222 or 223 that will let the CFG USB loader run the game - but each and every time when you try to run the game it just sticks after it shows me the Base IOS. I've verified that there is no problem with the hermes installer, when I make a custom 222 or 223 they are getting built properly and put into their slot (222 or 223) properly. It's just like there is something with the CFG loader stopping it from working...
Am I doing something wrong? What does the mload and yal options mean when choosing CIOS222/223 in the CFG loader options?
