windows 7 is NOT like vista it's far more stable, faster and best of all crash proof! and vistas BS rules rules rules you can't do this without being asked about everything thank god you can at least turn it off in w7!!

They are both virtually the same. Windows 7 runs on a tweaked Vista kernel. For gaming, benchmarks show there is no difference in fps between Vista and the same game running on 7 with identical hardware.
Windows 7 has UAC also. If you need to install any third party software you'll be prompted, just like Vista. You could also turn off those prompts in Vista, just like Windows 7.

Not a fanboy as such. Just sayin' that I personally found Mac's better, most likely cos I'm an arts student. My point wasn't that Mac is the greatest, simply that Macs are just better for me.

I just don't get it, why do people still think macs are better for art students and such?
That aside: I really like the look and feel of macs! The UI is mostly good, though I think win7 beats it.
the apple keyboard on the other hand! The new aluminum one I mean... Sheeesh it's wonderful!

and Bladexdsl: game performance wasn't bad at all on win2000! I used win2000 for a very long time and never had any problems.

Windows 2000 is by far my favourite release of Windows. Never really cared for XP. It just felt like Windows 2000 with a lot more crap added to it. I ran Windows 2000 until I went Mac in 2007.

But as we all know. Amiga Workbench was the best OS ever

If you want a fancy keyboard, go buy one from Razer ;p

Eitherway to the idiots who claim ME was the same as 2000 or NT, you fail. NT and 2000 are basicly the same, NT is actually NT4 and 2000 is NT5 if Im correct so yea... shut it ;p

Also I almost NEVER had crashes on XP and I had it from the get go. And when I did have a crash it was self-induced by going "Oehhhh what does this program do when I shut it down from Task Manager.... O right it runs the computer"

Vista is another story, I loved the feel but I had atleast 1 crash a week which pissed me off, also the automatic updates werent very good because they either did it all for you, including rebooting the PC whilst your in the middle of a movie or game, or it did nothing and you had to reboot 5 times before you could even run updates.

Windows 7 is such an improvement, it has the look of Vista but polished up and you can tell that internally it is way WAY better then Vista, Im not a software geek so I dont know whether 7 is an update on the Vista kernel or whether its a whole new system that uses Vista basics, all I know is I love it and so far only crashed once which is fair enough since I dont ever shut it off ;/

All in all Win 7 is a fantastic product and so are all other OS', with the fail of ME and pre-SP1 XP (I know SP2 was the best issue solver in XP but SP1 also fixed alot)

I cant wait for whatever they bring next!

Windows 7 actually uses the Windows Server 2008 kernel, not vista, and Vista kernel was based off Windows Server 2003 kernel.

Nobody ever said Me was the same as 2000. We said that XP was 2000 with the UI aspects of ME grafted on.

Yea, no.

Windows Server 2003 runs on an XP-based kernel, Windows Server 2008 runs on a Vista-based kernel and Windows Server 2008 R2 runs on a 7-based kernel.

Someone on the first page said ;p

Either way I dont think ME and XP are that similar in looks, I mean all the Windows (95 onwards) are the same in the having a taskbar, Start button and little icons but thats where UI similarities stop with ME and XP. ME was more like 98SE then XP in the end I think

And what Minox said sounds about right.

Windows ME is part of the Windows 9x family while Windows 2000 and later belongs to the Windows NT family.

Exactly, Win2000 was the first Windows that was for consumers based on the NT kernels etc, a good tradition that ensures all current Windows are way more stable then the old ones (I had a fair share of crashed in 95 and 98)

Ah, yes. 25 years of failure in the marketplace to recognize technically superior and free/cheaper software.

Why is this a celebration, again? I'd just as soon forget Faildows' dominance.

Ummm, no.
I bet you have no idea what you're talking about.
The apple keyboard isn't fancy. It's small, thin, but still have a good button feel.
The slickest razer I found:
