wow, sorry but I cant find 236 installer v4 anywhere.
I got the latest downloads, and even checked on the .tk download section, both only have v3

where is v4

this thing keeps dumping every time I try, with internet, without, even waiting 10 minutes

thanks

Warning: This one doesn't have the messed up piracy option removed so when you're prompted choose the option that is not for pirating (I think you push 2 for that). Or if you wanted some frustration you could always press 1. That little guide will walk you through what to do anyway.

wow, you two are funny...

Thank You Both

Wouldt you know, I tried 5 more times & it worked on v3

The last time, the time it worked, I had an active internet connection, I hit home and waited on the menu for 2 minutes & then went back & it worked...

I swear to you, I had tried with no internet & waited upto 10 minutes while I was on the phone, with an internet connection waiting 3 minutes, and many other variations of waiting and not waiting...
it was a total of 17 times before the time it worked with going to the home menu...

now of course I dont know if the home menu had a damn thing to do with anything, but I just thought I would let ya know...

Thanks again guys!

gone thru previous posts but couldn't solve my problem, so here goes. i'm trying to hack my friend's old 3.1U, so far I've upgraded to 4.2U and made a NAND dump. ios236 v3 installer as provided in 42mod.zip failed, so i used v4 installer and it worked. in MMM i remove the stubbed IOS's (says there are no stubs), and when I try to install the WADs I get -2011 returned for each one except IOS58 which returns -1035. I tried things that I read in previous posts: I have switched to Connection #1 in my internet settings, and I don't have the option for IOS249 in "Load another IOS". I have tried the procedure twice from the NAND dump stage, the first time I had installed some channels from shop channel and thought that might have screwed things up, so I restored the NAND and stuck to the instructions and the problem persisted. I have not tried installing the necessary IOSs using their respective installers rather than the WADs thru MMM, would that yield a better result? Should I redownload the WADs using NUSD? Would I have better success with WAD Manager?

Syscheck doesn't complete, it just quits when the green bar is about half way thru. Please advise.

Do you have an option for 236 in load another ios?

Nope. But when i try to rerun the ios236v4 installer it says its already installed. When I ran the v3 installer it gave this error:

Performing Step 1
Patching IOS
Unable to initialize the initial patches.
This either means you didn’t follow the download and launching instructions correctly, or your IOS is not vulnerable for an unknown reason.
Perhaps you need to update the Homebrew Channel (HBC). Installation cannot continue.
Press any button to exit.

I just noticed I'm using an old version of syscheck (1.3 vs 2.0). I ran Syscheck before and after installing IOS236 v4, no change between the two:

pre-install: http://pastebin.com/FjujkQWs
post-install: http://pastebin.com/mzCWdKaB

On previous Wii's I used TBR to patch ios236, should I try that?

Finally figured it out, IOS236 is okay now (BTW the guy who wrote the IOS236 installer is an ass, of course I am a pirate).

I hacked my wii several months ago following this guide.
Is there a thread for how to determine what all needs to be updated?
When I installed it, Neogamma R8 beta 15 was the newest and it says IOS 249 (Rev 17).

I would search but I don't really know what to search for.

Thanks xzxero.

I think I got through the first two by downloading 42mod.zip and installing all of the files through wad manager. I will upgrade the rest of them tomorrow and see if I have any problems.

How to update everything and determine if you are completely updated would be another awesome tutorial.

Hi,

I do not have hbc installed on my 4.3j Wii, will it still work ?

I contacted Wii CSRs, they said they will not touch if they find that it was modded before.

Well, it was done before and thats how I ended up with the Japanese Version.

Do you think I can update to US Version ?

Try and follow the Update 4.2 portion of the guide, see if that gets you back up and running

You can obviously skip the installing the hbc step, just load up MMM and install the wads...

@xzxero, just fyi, u don't need the stub-removal step, since u are installing a patched IOS236 with the version patch, you can overwrite/downgrade stubs when u perform the install cIOSs step anyways

PS. what happened to your credits/thanks section?? I was about to ask u add me to it (since I recognize parts of my guide in your guide, no big deal since we both share our guides with one another... but I at least include u in my credits) but then I realized you removed ALL your credits... whats up with that?

Hi my name's Robert and I'm a noob..."hi robert!"

I've been trying to soft mod my little brother's wii, he unknowingly upgraded to 4.3u at nintendo's assistance before I could start, we've since got HB installed via Smash Bros Stack Hack but I had to stop short there and he's since returned Smash Bros to the place he rented it.
So my question is could I (safely) "start fresh" without doing the Smash Hack seeing as how we've got bootmii installed as boot2? I ask because I don't want to get confused and flustered trying to figure out where I left off, or would it be best to just try my best to pick up right where I left off, install Wads/cIOSs and be done with it?
