I can confirm that using the hex codes mentioned by XXLANCEXX, I got my game working.

I used my patcher on a clean ROM, then trimmed and I can now gain EXP and leveled up after the second intro battle, when on my first try neither of the first two battles gave any EXP.

On my Acekard 2i, 1.7.1, and the 1.4.1 patch for Nintendo's little whoha attempt, I can't get black nor white to load after I finish my name. Black screen of doom.
I have tried an unpatched and sergster1's patch post. Neither of them work to get past that freeze.

Okay, so yet another reformat and reinstall of my SD card and AKAIO have yielded the same results. If others with the same hardware revision can play, it suggests that my SD card may be an issue. Will attempt to scrounge up an older SD for testing.
White is working fine for me on a AK2i HW ID 81 AKAIO 1.6RC2 (never bothered to update) DSi FW 1.3U with a Jpn Kingston 8Gb using this patch

That patch, tho an exp patch, still wouldn't keep it from freezing after the name entry.
I didn't use the patcher file, but applied the hex edits manually to a clean White rom with CRC CAA820CB.twiztidsinz said:
EDIT: Okay, so using the exact same AKAIO files and patched rom, but a different SD card allows the game to progress to the scene in my room. Interesting. Will edit again after first battle to see if I gain experience.
EDIT 2: Huzzah, experience has been gained. It's good to know that it's my SD card that's the issue, and not my hardware.
Before I was using a Kingston 4 GB micro SDHC, now I am using an old Kingston 2 GB micro SD non-HC.
Can't get the game to work after the Professors intro speech, I'm using all the latest firmware and running on DSi 1.4U I tried the hex patches, the xdelta ones, nothing works.

Least my experience has gotten better than over a decade ago. My iron would constantly bump into components and break them.
