Hacking Can this Wii play DVD-R?

Just got in a Wii to be soft-modded. (LU668053XX) I haven't done any in while so I have a question on the drive. When I went to the drive chip database it said the following...

"There is a 100% chance the chipset is Combined GC2-D3 with no drive chip."

Does that mean it can play DVD-R or not? It didn't mention anything about v2. TIA

Thanks fro the reply. I was told if it didn't say D3-2 it can read DVD-r's. So that's incorrect?

afaik, D3 drives can read disc backups, only D3-2 drives cannot.
Only way of knowing for sure is trying it out of course
