I wonder what are the chances Sony learnt from Nintendo's mistakes and actually patched the exploit fully.
Stuff like this has always been interesting to me. Might buy another PS3 from a pawn shop to experiment. Not too much Sony can do about that.

This patch was inevitable Sony must of known this could happen eventually and have acted fast to stop people using it.Unlike the x-box and wii
I'm not really trusting them at the moment, but if hackers are already in the PS3 then this patch is worthless; it'll only be a matter of time before the firmware is decoded and the necessary files taken from it, etc etc.

I thought the dongle couldn't be upgraded. Well, the people who reverse engineered the dongle said so

I thought Geohotz already got into the system, and it was released already... there is no firmware modification of anykind that I am aware of though.... well besides his unreleased Linux support.
