I think you may be a bit paranoid with that one... or giving nintendo too much credit. I'd be willing to bet that when you call what you get is some entry level customer service guy that takes 1000 calls a week, and doesn't really care what you say as long as you don't flat out say "I hacked my wii and it broke". I've been in that position on the company end for logitech, and believe me as long as you mention a covered scenario (like a forced update turning your device into a paperweight) you're golden.
edit: and to be honest, acting stupid is more likely to get someone poking around to see what exactly went wrong. As will acting like a smartass for that matter. as long as you're nice and just give a simple explanation that you did a recommended system update and now the system will not boot.
Hate to sound like I'm shutting you down, but what you believe or think is wrong. It is already known and proven that they have this disc to detect unauthorized software. What would make you think that this global corporation is exclusively keeping this disc in Europe? Yes, maybe so far reports have only come from Europe, but that does not mean anything. Most people who are too noob to understand the wii that might get caught after hacking their wii might just be too noob to report it to communities like this because they hacked their wii from a torrent from some stranger on the net with no good info on it.
Sure, I will not hold you back from taking a chance with your wii if you ever need to send it to nintendo, but everyone else I will tell them the truest way of being able to cover up all traces. Because what if someone takes what you say for truth, then they send their wii to nintendo, nintendo finds unauthorized software, then they black list it so you can never send it to them again unless you pay a huge fee. I'd rather not tell someone to take that kind of a risk. I'd rather prepare someone for the worst with what I know that Nintendo has out there.
Just my thoughts. Do what you want with your own wii, but dont give someone false advice just because you have a feeling about something. Going absolutely safe is better than feeling sorry later....and then being blacklisted.

oh im not saying they don't do checks, I know they do. I was just saying that the whole "play dumb" thing is.... well, dumb. SOrry I quoted the whole post so that may not have been clear
It was more of a general commentary on getting technical support from any phone support... If you're going to lie to them, keep it simple and play it nice.
