yeah i know theres plenty of workarounds out everywhere, but i'd rather wait for the legit release of the hackmii installer by TT.

hopefully bannerbomb and the trucha bug restorer get updated also, but thats unlikely.

Hi

This guide seems great, I want to buy a new black wii, (in Sweden, Europe) they just got a new shipment, is there any risk that these Wiis already have 4.3 installed?

Thanks for your help.

I'm 90% sure it won't be 4.3. Bear in mind though you can't use backup discs, USB loading is your only option.

Thanks for your quick reply.

Ok 90%, anybody else has the other 10%?

Yeah, I dont have any problems just beeing able to load using USB, its no slower then from a disc right? I have a few USB-hdd that I do not use so... it seems to be a better option, I mean not having to swap disc?

EDIT Does this also makes it impossible for me to make backup from originals? (sounds like a no, but would be great to know for sure)

I might be wrong, please let me know if I am...

You can still rip original Wii Game DVD's to your USB drive, once hacked.

You will NEVER be able to READ 'backup' dvd's though. The drive simply wont recognise them.

I reckon its probably less than a 1% chance of a new 4.3 Wii being out already, but you never know.

They have to update em, pack em, ship em, warehouse, em, and then re ship and delivery to store.

Reckon that'll take a few months, not weeks ???

Can I do this hack with just a 256mb SD card, and a 4gb SDHC card? The Wii is currently on version 3.1E, therefore it cannot read SDHC cards yet.

Cheers.

updated the .zip and guide to implement the patched ios60 for wiiware off sd card and detailed the bootmii instructions, thanks everyone

I have become quite proficient in wii soft modding, mostly 4.1 and 4.2 systems. This one area I am still a bit fuzzy on. I would like to be able to just do this one step of fixing loading wiiware/VC off the SDHC card in both a 4.1 and a 4.2 system. I have successfully done it by patching IOS60, 61, and/or 70(for the 4.2), but I have been somewhat inconsistent and have 1 or 2 wii's that I cant get this working properly. I had used WiiSCU for the patching. I have never bricked over multiple mods its just this one thing that is giving me trouble. I would like to be able to concisely understand what needs to be done to fix this one issue. I will most likely use your guide for future mods, so this wont be a problem from here out, but I want to fix the mods I have already done where this does not work. I have searched multiple guides and forums and although many come close, I cant find exactly what Im needing to do this.

Hi guys

Everytime I try and run Yet Another Mod Manager I'm getting a black screen. Any idea why this might be happening?

Thanks to OP for the guide...

did you ever figure out why this is happening?

I have a 4.1E wii already softmodded using a previous GBAtemp guide. Followed the instructions again to upto to 4.2 and mod. HBC & Bootmii installed fine and run fine. As soon as I try to run Yet another mod manager I get a black screen. I have to hold power to switch off, wii boots fine again. Downloaded the updatepal.zip twice now and formatted 2gb sandisk SDcard but still no joy. Anyone know what i'm doing wrong?

Well I've read about a hundred pages on here now and haven't quite found what I need. I followed this guide with absolutely no problems. The only thing I found even remotely strange was that when I ran the wad manager half the wads were not able to install correctly. I may be wrong, but I think that someone else had a similar problem and they were told that the other half did not matter. So basically, a total of 6 wads installed correctly, while 6 did not.

Anyway, now with everything installed, I decided to download a game, burn it, and try to run it. Using NeoGamma, I selected run the dvd or whatever the option was, and all I got was a code dump. I'm not sure why this happened. My Wii is an LU30, so it is capable of running back-ups. The reason this is particularly confusing to me is because I don't know if the burning process was possibly the matter or if it was because the wad manager didn't install those other 6 wads. If that is the case, how would I even fix it so that those 6 wads could be installed?

If anyone has any suggestions, I'd greatly appreciate your help.

xzxero, when doing the WAD manager step, should 12 WADS be installed when i select all of the WADS, or just the 6 that it is currently allowing me to install? It seems that only the first set of WADS with 4,100 after them work. The names actually look identical to the ones at the bottom, perhaps this is why it didn't install? Plus, in your video it seemed that only 6 WADS were installed.

I should add that this is the part I'm talking about, not the update section:

"When back on the main menu, press right to go to WAD manager.
Press 1 to select all the WAD's then A to install them.
Press any button to return to WAD manager."

The dvd-r I used was a 4.7 gig "GQ (Great Quality)". Would I have received a code dump just by having a shitty brand of dvd, or would it probably have something to do with the softmod? Perhaps the settings need to be configured in NeoGamma? A code dump still seems like a strange error though...

Ok, so I just tried the game in SoftChip, pressed "A" to start the game, and this is the error I got:

Loading Game...
Disc ID: ER
Magic Number: 0x0
Disc Title:
Partition Info is at: 0x0
(In Red) [-] No boot partition found.

Exception: Wrong Offset

Press Any Key to Continue...

Does this sound like it's something to do with the way I burnt the dvd?
I used disk utility to burn it, as I'm on a mac.

It's worth mentioning for numbnuts like myself. When u get the updatepal.zip from the gmail address it comes with wad manager and not Yet Another Mod Manager. Copy YAMM to the SDcard and you're away. Mod manager that comes with the updatepal.zip fails to load on my wii.

All patched now and at 4.2E.. Thanks again to OP for this guide!!>.

please someone can answer me to a quick question: after I saved the hacks in priiloader (pressing reset when booting to access to priiloader, then selecting the hacks then saving); those hacks (particularly the don't system update through internet and the don't system update through disc) work if I remove that sd? I ask it because I modded a wii today and forgot to keep the priiloader in the sd.

Thanks a lot.

Yeah, they'll still work as they are saved on the Wii memory
