I tried a few options in Config usb loader but no luck. I cant even get the external wbfs drive to mount. I have used it before on an older wii of mine and it worked (My 1st Wii broke

). I'm just trying to get gamma to mount the drive first.

Thanks so much for such an easy guide! Quick question, I'll obviously want to make sure to keep up with the latest and most compatible cIOS and whatnot, how would I go about finding this information out and installing it? Thanks~

Hi I am completely new to all this and had a few questions. I just got a brand new black wii and updated it to Version 4.2U will this guide work for that? It says 4.2 in the title does the letter matter?

Are there any major risks to doing this as far as bricking my Wii?

Thanks.

Read the Wii Hacking forum regularly, someone usually makes a new post when a new cIOS is about to be released.

Yes it will work.

Any unauthorised software carries the risk of bricking your Wii, but this guide has been used by thousands and thousands of people, and as long as you follow the guide to the letter, you'll be safe.

hi i have thanked god for finding this post.
And i will definitely follow this guide once i acquire the files.

I just needs some clarifications though. I have been modding psps since it darkalex's time and mind you modding a wii is way too much different. so here s what i need to clarify

*i aquired a modified japan wii with hbc bootmii usbloader mplayer on it but my ubber sister updated it to 4.2j
*bootmii still works (i tried running bet never went on changing its settings)
*mplayer works (watched several movies using a usb drive)
*usbloader failed to work i said it needs cios??
unsure.gif

*im going to follow this guide from root to top (how will it affect the previous modification?)
*whats the best way to get an unrecoverable brick?? (wanted to avoid that)
*will i be able to change the region and language settings after i apply this mod?? or even just change the laguage and not the region?? if i can can you shoot me a link to that guide?

I really appreciate every help.

P.S. i work in a very big software company (mcrsft)
wink.gif
and to all contributors i would give a very nifty hack that would save you dollars.

Just start over with the guide, it'll overwrite whatever was done before.

As for region changing, you can do that with AnyRegion Changer, though that is a VERY dangerous app to use.

There is no way to have a "perfect" unbrickable wii. The closest you'll get is installing BootMii as Boot2, but that doesn't work on newer Wiis.

QUOTE(bigboss50 @ Jun 19 2010, 01:41 PM) Hi guys I followed this guide a long time ago and after Nintendo's E3 I thought it was time to dust off the wii. I've gone back to it and found that someone downloaded some wii channels like BBC iplayer and some other everyone votes type stuff. However when I check the system info its still at 4.2 and has the Homebrew channel still installed, what I wanted to know is if all the stuff that I did earlier such as putting on the IOS and stuff are still intact and can I still use the usb loader and other apps or do I have to put all the IOS files on the wii again?
btw I still have the NAND files if that makes any difference and would this hard drive work with USB loading?

Ye I'll try it once my HDD comes and see if it works thanks

Plaston, check this out and make sure you are trying to run the game with the correct settings.

nitrodude, the cios pack is in case you want to install different cios's in different slots other than the default... For the basics, you don't really need to worry about it.

tried searching by keyword OSX and nothing came up, along with MAC also...

with that said. does anybody on here have link to help with a mac? looks like the only thing im missing at this point is a WBFS setup program.
i have a wii successfully modded, and a couple games downloaded, along with a hard drive formatted correctly but need software to convert the game to install onto the drive, correct??

only link i found was http://sites.google.com/site/completesg/ba...o/extra/wbfsmac

but all that does is tell me how i should format the drive, but no software.. is this all i need? theres something missing here and would appreciate help. THANKS!

find a program that can format your drive to FAT32 on a MAC
then try using wine software with wii backup manager on your MAC

I am looking to re-mod my wii, I have done this tutorial before and am on 4.2 now thanks to it. But to re-mod is it okay to do the whole tutorial, including updating to wipe out the mods I already have?

I haven't been gaming for such a long time. Been mostly busy with sleep, hardware tinkering and checking GBAtemp frequently.

It's going alright thanks :) I know what you mean with gaming time. It's precious where I can get it these days.

@Maximumbeans, Indeed. I've been working on getting this Infecutus chip to work on my PS2. But after soldering, I realised that a plastic piece was missing from the power ribbon cable to the power and eject buttons.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Now I could go with soldering the contacts from the cable to the connector on the mobo, but doesn't sound like a good permanent solution.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
Man, that's beyond my brain  I'm no good with hardware for now. I'd like to get into hardmods in future though
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Maybe start practice soldering. Get a cheap-ass soldering iron and follow some good YouTube tutorials.

  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Least my experience has gotten better than over a decade ago. My iron would constantly bump into components and break them.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
Sounds good. I actually did soldering but like 16 years ago for school so uuuuh probably rusty haha
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Same here. I did soldering at school from a teacher who I honestly liked since he had plenty of good electronics experience.
