So, here's my situation:

I currently own a white 360 I bought used on craigslist a year ago. Has HDMI and all that. 120GB HDD. Never once had any problems with it.
I own over 20 great games for it.

I am getting the new 360 S. Main selling points are the 250GB HDD and in-built WiFi, which if bought for my current 360 would cost me over $200 anyways (maybe even closer to $300)

Now, what should I do with my old 360..

1) Sell it to a stranger for ~$100ish
2) Trade it to my friend for his modded 360 (banned from Live)
3) Keep it for some crazy DIY project I may or may not ever do.
4) Trade it in at Gamestop and use it towards my 360 S

Option 1: Most economical.
Option 2: Originally this seemed like a great idea, but then I realized I already own most of the games I like anyways so I wouldn't get much use out of a modded 360 (esp. a banned one)
Option 3: I may at some point decide I want to put a 360 (or two) in my car, but that won't be for a long time as I still have much more important (and less frivolous) things to spend my money on.
Option 4: Similar to option 1, except I'm less likely to be stabbed. Except I really dislike Gamestop and I've heard they're getting a ridiculously small shipment of 360S'.

Really leaning towards 1 at this point, though I know how much my friend wants a new 360. Maybe I can trade my 360 to my friend for his banned one, then trade the banned one to gamestop for store credit which I use to buy my 360S....

Need opinions.

I'm on vacation. If there's a store in town with a 360S I intend to be one of the first there.

Ok so Jtag is out of the question.

If I were you I would probably just flash the DVD Drive and use it to play backups.

How does the age of games played on it affect why you can Jtag it?
Bit of a noob on Xbox hacking shenanigans

Well any game played past Borderland will update his system to a kernel that is not longer exploitable.

It's simply the new Xbox 360, with the old one being called the Xbox 360 Original. Anyway, there's already a listing for the suppose trade in prices at Gamestop.

It's $100 for the console alone. $40 for a 120 HDD. I'd trade it in, if you aren't planning to mod it or anything.

That has to be bullshit! I was in a Gamestop looking at games about a month ago and some guy came in wanting to sell his 360 Pro with 2 wired controllers and a 60GB hard drive and the gamestop guy said $70 for the package

There's the leaked list. I possible it isn't real or finalized, but there it is.

A month ago doesn't constitute what happened this month especially based on what was announced at e3. Anyway, it quite possible that part of their job is to bargain you down on how much you're going to get on a trade in. Their job isn't giving you the best value for your crap, it's trying to get it at the cheapest price so they can sell it for profit.

That all seems an awful lot. I have a 360 Elite so according to that list I get this.
$100 for the Console
$40 for the 120GB HDD
$25 for one of my wireless controllers.
That's a total of $165 meaning I only have to pay $34 for the actual console (oh wait but this is America so add tax onto that)
That's a HUGE reduction. I can only hope there is a very similar offer over here. Oh wait, but I need my HDD to get my data off it beforehand, goddammit! So its more like $74 then I can trade my HDD in at a later date for some thing else...

It's pretty official now.

http://www.gamestop.com/gs/specialty/tradeins/

Also, the calculation is missing a 1xx. It should be $134, since the new Xbox 360 is priced at $299. I would expect that is the pricing for an extremely good condition 360. I mean they aren't going to give you the same amount for one that was bought two weeks ago versus a launch one with dings all over it.

Sorry, working off the UK price (which is £199) realised after I left for school (yeah my memory's a bit insane)
I'd hope they won't give that much for an old launch day one as they are a red ring HELL. You're still getting a sizeable amount off your console and, who knows, maybe some stores will offer a data transfer from your old HDD if you trade in for an extra $10 or something (I doubt it though)

You should burn it! Jk, I'm not sure I would get a slim if I had a 360 already but if I were to choose prolly the gamestop credit would be beneficial, lately the modding 360's doesn't seem worth it anymore and I actually kinda miss buying games as weird as that sounds.
