Gaming Why Mario Kart?

All I ever seem to see now is this

6 year old + Nintendo DS Phat = Hours of Mario Kart DS

Honestly, I was walking around some store and the first one I saw I automatically assumed would be playing MArio Kart. I was right. I don't know why the game is so popular. Sure, it's unique, but I don't have Mario Kart - or even play it for that matter! (I used to play it)

For me, the same game formula wears out after about 15-25 levels.

Discuss - i'd love to know why

I'm in the same boat as you are, it gets boring after a while, even with online play.

It's always fun to snake the whole level and then look at angry peoples' faces!

Playing solo gets boring after a while, but playing whot your mates and seeng how their carts are plunderer by a rain of red shells has no price.

So you just hate...everything?

The gameplay works very well, there is a nice amount of gameplay and overall it's just an incredibly fun racing game.
Easily the best for DS (and Wii).

I assume you hate basically any game but Warioware and stuff like that, because nearly every game uses the same f**king mechanics throughout the entire life of the game. That's a given. The thing that matters is if those mechanics work well enough to keep you playing for long periods of time, and for Mario Kart...they often do.

People play it because people like it.
It's a really stupid question to ask honestly. Common sense is your friend (or it's supposed to be).

It may not be the best of the best, but it doesn't have to be to be played a lot.
It's a very good game, especially considering it was one of the first DS games.

This might be a strange, alien concept, but just because YOU don't play a game, doesn't mean it's weird that others do.

Mario Kart games get better with each release and with each release I get bored with the old one.
Since I know Mario Kart Wii is way better than Mario Kart DS, I can't play Mario Kart DS.

But to answer your question (If there is a question?), it's the best fucking 'kart' game ever.

Because it's a lot of fun? I myself still enjoy the game - it's still one of the best racers on the DS, if not the best, and it's DEFINITELY the best Kart racer.

It's the best DS game ever in my opinion, just a perfect game on every aspect.
It deserves to be still played, it's a fantastic game!

If a game is honestly terrible, "why do so many people play this?" would be a legitimate question of curiosity. Mario Kart isn't an honestly terrible game, in fact, it's quite good. No, it's not the best. But if even you admit that the game is pretty good its just that you find it gets boring over time, why ask why other people enjoy it? It's a rather inane and redundant question. It's a good game and other people don't find that it gets boring for them as fast as it does for you. Deal with it.

I think the key phrase in the whole OP is "for me".

To him it gets boring after 15-25 levels. Apparently he can't grasp the concept that other people's minds can-and in fact do!-work differently than his own.
