Well, it was the beginning of my tenth grade year, and I heard about this kool card called the DS-X (yeah right), from my friend and he told me all about the whole scene. So, I dropped over $100 on that god damn card, got it and I loved it!

I originally found GBATemp in October of 07 looking for homebrew, I found tons and tons and then I saw that there was a side forum about the DS-X so I signed up and started chatting in it. I heard all these things saying it was terrible card and I refused to believe it so I left. Only to come back sometime in early January looking for more homebrew, and there was a big thing on this new card called the DSTT. So I logged back in, chatted about it with people and ultimately bought it, and since then I became instantly hooked to GBATemp. I quickly tried to spam my way up to 100 posts (but I made intelligent posts not just like "cool" or "wow thats awesome!") so I could see what people were selling in the selling and buying forum obviously lol, now I have been here ever since.

Nowadays, I don't have a DS anymore because I had to sell it in September to buy stuff for my drumset but I am still around these places chattin with all my good buds on GBATemp!

Your story?

Heard about R4 somewhere in McDonalds.

Went to google and tried to find a cheaper option.
Saw Wikipedia's list of flashcarts.
Came up with .... Just4kids or something selling Acekards.
Looked that up.
Found GBATemp.
Lurked for a week or so.
Found out about DX.
Bought my Acekard 2.1 and a 4gb.
A month later got it.
About two months later started posting on GBATemp.
Liked it and stayed.

I bought a Cyclo to play Streets of Rage at any given point in my day. I needed a site that would help me get the most out of my new toy. GBAtemp was mentioned in passing over on my previous hideout of Gamefaqs. Coming here allowed me to find a Mega Drive emulator, sticking around seemed to be advantageous so I did. A decision I have yet to have any reason to regret

Some game was out, I came here from a Google search and I noticed the filename over the page on the release list. I tried to look for a download link and assumed that it was only available to members.

I signed up, came back, and searched for a link. I noticed someone else was being scolded for asking for roms and I was disappointed.

Now I'm just a happy, rule abiding member of GBAtemp!

My first visit to the site was back in late 2007, when I was reading the site's reviews on various flash-carts. I didn't feel the need to register. I decided to go with the CycloDS. I then registered on the TeamCyclops forums, and stayed there for a while. I visited it frequently and often found help there.

Having enjoyed the DS for quite a while now, I got into the homebrew and stuff. I started making skins, thought they were decent, and then I started working on a ComicBookDS theme. The ones available didn't satisfy me, and I used the program a lot (back when I used to read Death Note and stuff). Once I finished it, I thought about releasing it somewhere. After sending it to Francis Bonnin (developer of CBDS), I registered here (I found out this was the most popular DS site) and posted it.

Since then I've hanged around the site. I rarely play DS anymore

It was the Wii not the DS that brought me to GBAtemp. I found out about the R4 cart yeas ago and that’s was all there was to it. Fit the cart, download the firmware from the R4 website and away it went. It wasn't until I started homebrew on the Wii that things got a little more complicated. I was using Wiibrew and Eurasia a lot when I noticed that most of the releases were coming from GBAtemp. So I became a member to stay up to date.

Not long after that the R4 updates stopped so GBAtemp became a source for DS info and fixes as well. I kind of enjoy taking part in some of the other posts now as well. It can be a great source of humour late at night when I'm bored and have had too much to drink.

I first registered to post a problem with WiiScrubber (got it to work six months later)

Hello,
I am trying to use WiiScrubber, but it won't open correctly. It always gives me errors about key.bin even though I've tried three. What do I do?

I was lurking for a while before that. I didn't really start posting until September.

I had got my first flashcard (a DSTT) in June. I took it with me on holiday to France for 3 weeks, starting from July 1st. I experienced trouble with some games, so I started Googling why that happened. Meanwhile I also found out about 'homebrew'. It looked awesome to me, games and apps not made by Nintendo or any other big company. So, I was looking for homebrew. By Googling I found out a site called 'GBAtemp' had a massive amount of homebrew to download for free. But, I had to sign up for the site in order to be able to download all those homebrew. So I did. And I started downloading every homebrew there was at that time that interested me. Only several months later, I found out there was something else to GBAtemp, a forum. That got me interested, because I was (and still am) a major fan of the Nintendo forums back in the day (it's a pity they don't exist anymore). The first post I made was very nooby, I bumped a very old thread with a simple question. I occasionally started posting. Then, all of a sudden, exactly one year after I joined, I spammed. A lot. I had seen users with 1000 posts, which at that time seemed an incredible amount of posts to me. And they were popular and knew each other very well. I wanted to be one of the cool kids too. So I posted in every single release topic there was and soon spammed my way up to 2000 posts. Meanwhile I had also started using the shoutbox, which is the real reason I got popular/infamous

I had made friends from different countries all over the world. I was so happy for that, I decided to stay. And that way, I learned more about older members (I had seen them around but only talked to the hipster kids yet) and about the temp itself. Now I have quite a lot of posts, because it's damn easy to spam up postcount by helping people out (or being helped out myself, although that doesn't occur as often as it used to anymore).

tl;dr: Google'd.

i joined in summer '09

I was on youtube looking for help getting my wii to read backups (that actually never worked) i stumbled apon GBAtemp.net.

Asked some questions, still failed to get it working.

Then i just gave up.

I already had a DS flash card, i had the EDGE at the time, i did not need help with it or anything since i just googled.

i kept checking every day for news and stuff, then i started posting in the DS sceen section helping people with their EDGE's.

Then i started a few polls to get an Acekard 2i or M3i zero....i got the ak2i

and ever since i joined, i have been hooked, like a moth to a light.

The end

I used to provide PC games and NES/SNES roms to the scene. Got out of it for a while, and when I got interested in the GBA, this was a good source for rom downloads. When the downloads went away, so did I. I ended up signing up for the forum later (2003), but lost access to the e-mail account I'd been using and forgot my password. Re-signed up later to help people with stuff, stuck around, got promoted a few times. Now you're all peons beneath my--I mean, um, great weather we're having around here..yeah.
