Windows 7 is a vast improvement over my previous OS, Windows XP. So much more fluid and optimized.

I can't see myself ever jumping to any other line besides Windows. I'm just so lazy, I'd never want to put up with the compatibility boundaries. Even if 7 was terrible, I'd probably still end up using it. That's kind of bad, but still...

Considering I've never tried any of them (apart from XP and a 'little play' with Vista) I'm afraid I have to say 'XP' over 'Vista'

XP over Vista on any given day! But Windows 7 over both of them!

Whoa! Mac OS is catching up!

Just Kidding.

Windows 7. I've used Ubuntu before, it just wasn't what I needed. A flashy OS (due to Compiz Fusion) but nothing really to offer me.

Windows is the best..
I hate linux, so hard to use and no support for hardware.
5 years ago yes but not now anymore... you should read Why Ubuntu excites me more than Windows or Macintosh
QUOTEI gather that Windows 7 is perfectly serviceable, but I wouldn’t go back. I wouldn’t see the point. It would be like moving into a generic hotel room, when you’re used to having your own house.

Sadly Ubuntu will be the next blue pill...

Gentoo Linux and Slackware Linux would be my two poisons of operating systems of choice. Windows XP only exists for my Windows only stuff that refuses to load through Wine like BIOS updating software and such.

I've heard a LOT of good things about '7' - but I'm not getting it until I get a new PC & since my existing PC does all I need it to do ATM, it won't be any time soon

I think when it comes to being user friendly and simple to use, Windows 7 is certainly the best. I have been using it for a couple of weeks since I built my desktop and looking at XP now it's almost a joke, same with Vista. You don't realize how garbage those operating systems were until you have run Windows 7.

Sounds like you're saying that those two distros are poisons amongst operating systems. I know what you're saying, but you phrased it weird. Perhaps, "Gentoo + Slackware are my poisons", if you must use that 80s alcohol reference.

When I'm not gaming, Ubuntu 10.04 is where it's at. It's SO fast because it has little to no overhead. And no background crap like antivirus, because you just don't have to worry about that. When I'm gaming, I use Windows 7 Pro.
