Hi guys! I'm here again for GBAtemp. Anyway, I knew about 3DS, Nintendo's upcoming handheld gaming console.

3DS will unveiled at this year's E3. Before E3, here are my rumoured features for 3DS:
  • Powerful as GameCube or PSP than Nintendo DSi
  • LCD screen made by Sharp
  • Dual screen or single screen
  • NVIDIA Tegra chip or a GameCube processor
  • Dual sensor-based cameras (front and back) with 3 megapixels and GAflash
  • One or two analog stick
  • Accelerometer (used for Apple's iPhone and iPod touch)
  • Multi-touch screen (used for iPhone and iPod touch) or touch screen (with stlyus and used for Nintendo DS and Nintendo DSi) support
  • GameCube engine (instead of GBA engine used for Nintendo DS)
  • mini disc (as GameCube), game card (used for DS and DSi) or nothing but download 3DS games (used for iPhone, iPod touch and PSPgo)
  • Region-locked or region-free for 3DS games
And that's it. But wait, there's one more thing to talk about 3DS: it will always be an anti-piracy system, so hackers can't hack 3DS.

These features for 3DS will be revealed at E3. So what do you think about my rumour features for 3DS?

Nothing is unhackable ^^! You just might have to flash it and reverse engineer it entirely, possibly including (at least hacks of) all of the games!

Also, what do you mean by Gamecube Engine and GBA Engine? You mean their processor architecture?

*Also, you might want to reword your first point...it doesn't make sense*

*What do mean Gamecube Engine??? and how does the DS uses GBA engine??? are you talking about game engines?? those are made independently by the dev.

*Camera's are a given they will probably be there for the head tracking if they use that for 3D to tell where you are

*It will not use a disc, Nintendo would never do that, sony learned the hard way that discs aren't good for handhelds. they would be shooting themselves in the foot to be download only again like sony with the PSP go

*They won't be using a "gamecube" processor which is a IBM PowerPC unless IBM made a portable version, which I doubt as seeing they wouldn't even make portable ones for apple that's why apple left, no high powered efficient G5 for laptops

*They will be using a ARM processor and everyone says they will be using a System of Chip made by Nvidia called the terga 2, unless they went with old tech the Terga 1 which the Microsoft ZuneHD uses. to be clear the tegra is not a processor its a chip that contains the entire system, hence the name System on a chip (SoC)

* LOL everything is hackable, it will be hacked, and I would assume team twizzer might be the ones to do it too.

*Multitouch is unlikely how would you hold the system and use two hands to touch the screen?

*Accelerometer alot of stuff uses that, not just the iphone, not really sure on this one, I don't see the point. personally I don't like having to move and shake the entire object like a ipod touch or phone, I can see it as viable method for telling how the system is oriented at a angle

*it has to have 2 screen since it's backwards compatible with the DS, and Nintendo even said they had a way to make it so there is no gap

What does your first point mean???

After reviewing the bullets he presented.

I am at the same place I was before.

Either its me or the grammar.

I don't see Nintendo ever using cd's in a handheld.
They've been using cartridges FOREVER.

That's what we all said before the Gamecube launch...

Yes, but the biggest DS carts now hold almost as much data as a CD. The state of ROM chips was a lot different back at the end of the N64 days.

I was wondering where antonkan went just the other day. For those who don't know him, you shouldn't take anything he says seriously, he caused a lot of annoyance and drama last year and posted a ton of very annoying and ignorant spam that ended up giving the staff a lot of unnecessary and annoying work to sort out. Looks like he hasn't changed one bit sadly... I hate to call someone out like this as it's not usually my style to just blatantly seem like i'm trying to troll someone, but since he's spreading this crap about like he knows things, i just wanted to let you guys know. I though he had learned his lesson long ago or even stopped posting since i've not seen him in quite some time. I was clearly wrong. >_>

He's just repeating stuff that has already been rumored or announced and using it as something he "knows" because he has "special contacts" or whatever. We all know it will have more powerful anti piracy as announced by Iwata a few days ago. It will have some sort of ARM processor to be able to play old DS/DSi games (confirmed to be back compatible). The rest is just bullshit until we get some information, even the Tegra rumors. We actually don't know ANYTHING about the power inside the system, the buttons, or what it will look like.

The ONLY information we KNOW-

- new handheld, not a redesign or upgrade
- back compatible with DS/DSi games
- has some sort of 3D support without the need for glasses
- some kind of "new harder to break anti piracy"
- 3d feature can be turned off and on (presumably via a switch or option in the menu, but whatever)

And that's IT. Nothing else has been announced and you can stop speculating and spreading bullshit until we know anything else at E3 which is about a month away.

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

i dont have an sd card adapter but I have an usb sd card adapter

It's old but it's the best firmware out for DS stuff
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
it says it only works for the original R4, R4i Gold (r4ids.cn), R4iDSN (r4idsn.com) and Acekard R.P.G.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
    nvm it does support mine
