How do you get WiiWare/VC games working on a softmodded Wii? Also, can they be run directly from a HDD? 'Cause I saw a SD-card way. But I'd like a HDD way more.

WiiWare and Virtual Console games can be installed from wads using Wad Manager. Check your favorite game/warez sites for these (DON'T ask for them here). If you're interested in loading from a hard drive, look into TriiForce, which uses NAND emulation to load games from USB devices.

when you download wiiware/vc games....they download as .wads!

which are then installed through a program called 'wad manager', which is ran through 'the homebrew channel'

very very simple, 5 minutes work!

I just did the way fishykipper said with an SD-card anyway. There aren't that many good WiiWare games out yet. So I won't be switching out the SD card all the time. Thanks guys

If all goes well, it's indeed the simplest method.

However...keep in mind that if you try to install a bad wad (or even an out-of region wad), you could end up with a bannerbricked wii.

With precautions (bootmii or priiloader), this can be overcome. But it's another reason why emulation is usually preferred: installing a bad wad won't cause any problems.

Ohw, thanks for pointing that out. Especially since I don't have BootMii nor PriiLoader. (Have a black Wii, so I can't do that much). I'm gonna look into TriiForce.

QUOTE(roku93 @ May 7 2010, 04:07 PM) Priiloader can be installed on black wii afaik

But if I can't install Bootmii as Boot2, what good will it do me when I brick my Wii?

Priiloader + Bootmii as IOS can recover from most bricks (all bricks that don't involve (un)installing a SM or SM IOS).

And if you have your wii's keys and nand dump from bootmii, in the event of a full brick, you can send your wii to someone like DeadlyFoez (or Bushing) who knows how to use an infectus chip, and he can repair your wii as long as u have a nand backup.

Trust me, these are the best brick protection tools that exist for the wii, they are the most important part of any wii mod (in my opinion).
