Another one............ouch, I still didn't come around to play the dream of a turtle one......which I intend to, but I just luck the time.
It surely looks interesting, for a graphical adventure.

I love Runaways, too bad the last DS port wasn't that good.

This game is awesome on PC, maybe I'll give the DS version a try.

From what I understand, this game is part 3 of a 3-part series. We have part 2, and now part 3 on DS, but the first one was never made for DS, apparently.

I used to play these types of point-and-click games a lot back in the C64 days. I just can't get into them these days though. Too often the puzzles are too obscure and don't make sense and I end up just following a FAQ all the way through. Tends to suck any fun out of the game to just follow a guide while playing it, but I'm too lazy to actually try with these kinds of games anymore.

awesome, I love the runaway series!

its like Monkey Island or Sam and Max or Full Throttle, or one of those awesome point and click games back in the day : P

the only thing I don't care about those types of games is the ridiculous factor

Monkey Island - aw, common...you CAN'T Stuff a full size hound dog in your pocket!! @_@

what rayder said is true, i like point and click games as long as things doesn't get so obsure to the point that i am saying to myself... great... i am stuck and none of the people i talked to gave me any clues nor do i know what do i do with the items in my inventory, do i have to go a round-about route of getting to my destination by combining unimaginable combination like say:

a jar of peanut with a jelly fish with a bucket of sand to get a sandwhich which then has to be given to a guard in exchange for a key and the key has to be used on a door to get to a chest in which the chest contains a bubblegum which has to be given to a monkey and finally, after doing that, use the monkey to get to an island??

I hate games that forces me to use a guide just to know what the heck am i supposed to do.

I supposed i could fin the PC port and play that instead..

Damn - I was hoping this game would be about air traffic control - but all the planes were grounded due to fate kicking up a load of volcanic ash.

nice one teapea
if a puzzle is like mrfatso described, then i think it should not be called a good puzzle point and click game. Everything has to make some sense rather than just making up your own combinations. For example, PW has become famous esp due to the storyline and how the game flows revealing parts one by one in a very systematic way (not to mention exciting). But if u suddenly put things where they supposedly not supposed to be, then u would end up asking the player to try everything u can/at yer disposal which is not very directive (ehh blabbering)

I've been playing it for a couple of days now............and I can say this game is really good !
The first runaway ( dream of the turtle ) for the DS ( which is the second in the series ) was pretty cool, but there is a reason I didn't play it ( beyond me being busy playing the Ace Attorneys games )...it felt like a bad port.
They tried to make it nice on the DS, but besides the user interface which feels a little clumsy, the biggest problem was the graphic actually.
Although the game had great artwork, you could tell that the whole screen was scaled down from the PC version to fit on the DS, and they tried to overcome this by zooming in and out of the screen by holding the stylus on it for a second or two.
It didn't feel natural, and by the way, by zooming in you actually get to see 1:1 pixel aspect ratio and you appreciate the artwork just the way it was meant to be ( on the larger PC screen ) but it really felt like I was playing something on ScummVMDS........

Now this new title.....you can tell it's being superbly ported to the DS !
Even though the cut scenes are highly compressed with unavoidable loss of quality ( but really considered the amount of dialogs and movies they crammed into the system you can't really complain ) this time around the graphics are not scaled down from the PC version, it feels like they took the source material and re-sampled it with the DS resolution in mind.........the result is outstanding, is the best looking adventure game for the DS ( it's kind of similar to broken sword, but better since is not as old and dated ) and all the characters are so well animated and really fit with the background as they looks as part of it. It really feels like you are playing an animated movie !
Also the user interface is so much better.........no more zooming in and out, but if you hold the stylus on the screen you get little glowing dots that discretely give you hints about objects that you can interact with, and the closer you are the brighter they become.
So it's a really well thought out system, and if you get stuck there is also an online hint system that helps you a great deal without revealing to much and without punishing you by limiting or counting the hints used.
So I'm very happy so far, I wish there was more quality content like this on the DS, I still feel that it's the perfect platform for this kind of games ( the only draw back in my opinion is the low resolution of the screen, which makes it difficult to make a straight port from the PC ).
And I miss the Ace Attorney style animated conversations, like..........words..........coming out......LITTLE BY LITTLE !
But really, for an adventure game can't do much better then this.
