So much for tomorrow never dying.

EON Productions' Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, the producers of the James Bond films, announced today that they have indefinitely postponed all work on Bond 23, which had been slated for a 2011/2012 release.

"Due to the continuing uncertainty surrounding the future of MGM and the failure to close a sale of the studio, we have suspended development on Bond 23 indefinitely. We do not know when development will resume and do not have a date for the release of Bond 23," Wilson and Broccoli said in a joint statement.

Wilson and Broccoli took over the Bond franchise in 1995 from their late father, Albert "Cubby" Broccoli, and have produced every Bond film from GoldenEye through Quantum of Solace. EON Productions and Danjaq LLC are affiliate companies and control all worldwide merchandising for James Bond.

No word yet on how this affects the attachment of Sam Mendes as the project's director or any of the script work that has been done to date.

Meh, the franchise hasn't been as good since they did all the Fleming books. The Brosnan movies weren't too bad though. I miss classic Connery films, even Moore wasn't that bad. Still, it's a franchise that still has potential.

I'm not a fan of James Bond, but this is bad news for those who do care.

That sucks, I'm not a big fan of the series but the last two movies were exceptionally good, especially the Bond actor Daniel Craig.
Too bad if the series really does come to and end though.

R.I.P. 24 and 007, the best spy series of America and England.

Craig was a pretty good Bond, but the whole shift in the series was a little unsettling. It wasn't purely action and shooting 'em up. It showed Bond's gadgets and genius. Seriously, he made two sets of guards shoot at each other in Goldfinger. That was awesome. Not to mention the awesome gadgets, like the suitcase (From Russia With Love) and the magnetic watch (Moonraker) and the air pellet gun (Live and Let Die).

I thought Casino Royale was excellent, excellent, EXCELLENT. Can't say the same for Quantum of Solace, though it wasn't bad.

Kind of sad, though, I think Craig is a great Bond.

Glad I'm not the only one who didn't like the latest two films. They weren't true Bond films, IMO. But the way everyone reacted to the last two, I thought I was the only one who liked the crafty, cheesy, near invincable Bond.

Ill never been a fan of them though, for some reason i allways watch the first 20-30 minutes, fall asleep and wake up at the final fight.

That happens alot to me to. The Bond series just kind of bores me, it gets way to repetitive....

The last james bond 4 movies were pretty boring, I don't care what happens to the franchise anymore.

I remember some black dude said he wanted to be the next bond, that was funny.

Wtfux!

I don't care what people say about them, I loved Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace (although not as good). Daniel Craig is the best James Bond period. This version of him is also the closest portrayal of Ian Flemming's version.

Let's not forget that Ian Flemming himself didn't like Connery as Bond, and that comes from a fairly recent interview with Sean Connery.
I think if Ian Flemming was alive today, he would like Daniel Craig.
And guys let's not forget that Bond movies recently ( before Craig ) became a parody of itself.
Nobody wants to see an invincible Bond anymore.
When the Jason Bourne movies came along, I remember everybody was raving about it and many critics wrote that a modern Bond movie should be just like that.
I think they accomplished that with Casino Royale, and went even further.
Of course you do alienate some fans, but you can't be stuck in the past, otherwise you'll end up in ridiculousness .
I really , really liked Casino Royale.
The sequel was OK too, but I think it was best watched on DVD right after the first one, as a whole it makes much more sense.

Hi, my name is Jesse, and I think re-imagining James Bond was a bad idea.

The thing is that new Bond isn't Bond. It's a decent enough action flick and stuff, but it's just not a true Bond film. Where's all the gadgets? Or all the slyness? Or the awesome super villains (Le Chiffre was decent enough because he was based off the novel, but Green wasn't exactly all that cool)? It just wasn't there.

I'm sure we won't see invincible, cheesy Bond any more because it just doesn't appeal to the demographic nowadays, but I really do miss him. At least through in some gadgets. We didn't even see a glimpse of Q in the last two films.
