Tabletop Advance Wars for the masses!

Some geek at.. well.. boardgamegeeks.com has adapted Nintendo's classic strategy series Advance Wars as a board game. It's totally free except for eventual printing costs, so grab it quickly before Nintendo sends the inevitalbe C&D letter. You can download the 26-page PDF, two sets of rules and more fan-made material right on boardgamegeeks.com's Skirmish Wars page.

I'm having it printed out on glossy cardboard as I post, can't wait to try it next weekend.

I was really excited when I downloaded it, but it seems that the file that is being hosted on mediafire is broken

. However I managed to dig up a mirror here: http://www.depotoir.ca/swat/ (it's the 43MB file). The site contains a link to a zip file with both the game and the rules

The Mediafire link worked for me. I think the Dropio one is bonked, because the user limit was reached.

The problem ain't the link but the file, several people, including me ended up with a corrupt pdf file that adobe wouldn't open.

Are we talking about this link? 'Coz that'd be mighty odd. It worked for me, I've actually just picked up aforementioned cardboard printouts from the print shop and they look great.
Are you using the original Adobe Acrobat Reader? The PDF has comments and annotations which might not work properly with older non-Adobe PDF readers.

Yeah I was talking about that link, but now that I've got an automatic update of acrobat reader and downloaded the file again, it seems to work.

Glad to hear that. We should set up a Northern European Skirmish Wars group. Seems like almost everybody here is from that area. No offense meant Celice..
