I have a DS lite and do not intend to purchase a DSi in the near future.

Use? Mostly for games and if possible Moonshell compatible
Price Range? Any Price
Slot 1/2? 1
Built in or expandable memory? MicroSD or at least 2-4 gigs built in
GBA compatibility? Not essential but would be good
Special features? SDHC compatibility would be good but again not really essential.
Any flashcarts you are looking at in particular Am considering the cycloDS

I've been using the m3lite till now and its been faithful to me for a long while. Up until recently it has been able to run 99% of the games I wanted to play. Now with the more serious AP codes being implemented into the DS games my m3lite has not been able to bypass a few of the stronger protected ones due to lack of updates.
I have not been keeping up to date with the Flashcart scene and would love a few expert opinions as to which card is best for my criteria.

Cheers, Jen.

I'm looking to buy a FlashCart for my brother who is getting a DSi in a few weeks. I have a CycloDS he's been using that works fabulously but it doesn't work on the DSi, sadly.

Use? Games
Price Range?

I like to have options when it comes to Flash Carts, such as which ones have a fix out first or the fact that some are better at one thing than another, pros and cons to each, etc... I have a DSLite and a DSi at the moment and am planning on getting the DSi XL when it comes out. I do not use the DSLite that much so this post really pertains to the DSi and the possiblity of having a DSi XL. I currently have the following Carts for the DSi:

AceKard 2i
Super Card DSONEi

So my question is what Cart should I get next, in your opinion, that will best cover my current cons and give me new pros? Basically what cart will with the carts I have, give me the best possible combination of carts?

To help you figure out what to reccomend, my favorite features are cheats, saves, game compatibility, mp3's, pics, vids, and MOST Important Firmware/OS updates and support.

Thanks in advance to those that help. I appreciate your advice and your time. Have a good morning. Talk to you all later.

Sincerely,
Elmoreas

Any flashcarts you are looking at in particular Acekard2i seems good...

What is RTS ? I saw that it is not compatible with Acekard2i but i don't know what is this.
It is important that the card is updated fort "Firmware 1.4" by the shop ?
Thank you.

@chibigon - SDHC is a standard now for the flashcarts nowadays... i recommend you get the AceKard 2i instead of the CycloDS. you'll save more money... and the price is over priced... a SuperCard DS ONE paired with it's newly released EvolutionOS Firmware is basically an equivalent to a CycloDS. After, you just need to learn it, and it would be good. But after all this, i still recommend a AceKard 2i paired with akAIO firmware.

@Popsmith - AceKard 2i. Has good game compatibility, and is updated when famous/new games are released. but even if they don't update, majority of games always load [for me, i have had 0 issues with my AceKard!]

@elmoreas - AceKard 2i or a SuperCard DSONEi. Both are very good flashcarts. The SuperCard DSONEi has RealTimeSave and RealTimeGuide which is the main difference between the two. If you need those features, then get the SuperCard, but if you don't, then just get an AceKard 2i.

@AzOmAn - AceKard 2i then if all you need it for is games. RTS stands for Real Time Save. It is a feature that allows the user to save a game any time they want by using the flashcarts firmware. You can activate RTS by pressing buttons in a combination. AceKard does not have it, but some other flashcarts do have it. I am not sure if these flashcarts are compatible with the 1.4 firmware, so be careful and stay up to date with the scene.

Use? DS/GBA games, homebrew
Price Range? $30 - ~45 CAN
Slot 1/2? 1 + 2
Built in or expandable memory? Expandable, SDHC
Special features? SDHC support, support for R4 saves, cheats
Any flashcarts you are looking at in particular Acekard 2 + EZ-Flash 3-in-1, EDGE + EZ-Flash 3-in-1, M3 Real Perfect Bundle
Other? Looking for a DS + GBA solution, Slot 1 + 2

For all slot-1's (ignore if you want a slot-2):
Support slot-2 GBA? Yes
Support slot-2 rumble packs? Would be nice, but not required

I'm looking for a setup to play DS and GBA games. I've done my research but can't decide between the three options I've thought of above (Acekard 2 + EZ-Flash 3-in-1 OR EDGE + EZ-Flash 3-in-1 OR M3 Real Perfect Bundle). I have an old R4 and would also like to be able to carry over my saves from that too.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

PS. From what I've heard about the SuperCard DS TWO, it sounds like something I'd be looking for, whenever it comes out.

@rad140 - The M3Real Perfect Bundle seems best for NDS + GBA Gameplay. Mainly, since there is a built in loader for GBA Games in the O/S for the M3Real. Also, you can use cheats as well which may serve to be useful at the harder parts [if you are too lazy to do it the long, harder way]. I don't recommend waiting for the SuperCard DSTWO. Like I've said to others, the ETA could be anytime. Today, Tomorrow, Next Week, Next Month, heck, it could even be Next Year.

According to your flag, you are from Canada... And lucky for you, KickGaming has a sale for the M3Real Perfect Bundle: http://www.kickgaming.com/real-simply-real...ndle-p-277.html

$5 may not be a huge discount, but it is enough to make it fit in your price range.

@dapath - Slot 1 = the Top Slot for DS Games. Slot 2 = the Bottom Slot for GBA Games + Expansions. Seems to me that you are searching for a flashcart with good compatibility. For that, I will recommend the AceKard 2i for Price and for Game Compatibility. Just pair it up with the akAIO firmware and it is one of the top flashcarts for you money.

You aren't interested in GBA Games right? If you are, then consider the M3Real Perfect Bundle.

Oh and I forgot to mention this, if you are getting a DSi/DSi XL, then you are not going to be using Slot 2. Loading GBA Games will be harder, and the only flashcart that is capable of loading both GBA and NDS games without an expansion is not existent. The SuperCard DSTWO is rumored to be able to load both NDS and GBA games since it has a similar hardware build to the iPlayer [which is capable of loading GBA Games threw an emulator]. Just, think about it first. Will you be playing GBA Games if you got a DSi / DSi XL? If yes, then wait and find out results about the SuperCard DSTWO and if no, then go ahead, buy the AceKard 2i.

@Splych: Thanks for the reply. I am from Canada and did see the sale on KickGaming. While built in GBA compatibility is nice, comparing the M3 with the Acekard 2 and the EDGE, which is better? I can get the Acekard price-checked from KickGaming to put it in my budget, and buy the EZ-Flash as well.

@rad140 - Well, it depends on what kind of games you will be playing the most. Whether you are going to be playing NDS or GBA games more. I own all 3 flashcarts that you were looking at and for me, I use the AceKard 2.1 + EZFlash Expansion. I have some trouble loading GBA Games [it's just me xD] so I prefer to use my PSP for GBA Games. I haven't tried using my EZ-Flash with my M3Real or EDGE, but I recommend this:

AceKard 2 for NDS Games
M3Real Perfect Bundle for NDS Games and GBA Games
EDGE ... Enh. AceKard is easier to use.

Use? Good game compatability
Price Range? Under 30$
Slot 1/2? Slot 1. What else?
Built in or expandable memory? Micro SD(HC)
GBA compatibility? No
Special features? I need VERY good support. I own a DS-X and the name itself is self explanatory.
Any flashcarts you are looking at in particular I'm actually deciding between the itouch2 and the acekard2i.

hello, i just actually picked up my first DS a few months ago (switched from psp, what an awesome choice) and without doing much research bought an R4i SDHC which works really well but im worried about support dropping in the future and no updates.

im selling this card with my DSI and buying a DSI XL and a new card. im looking at the m3i zero or an acekard.

i also would like to play GBA games which from what i have been reading will require iplayer.

im not too worried about media but the extra functionality would be nice. im more concered with quality, support and kernel updates, and it needs to support SDHC

any suggestions of what i should pick up and where to buy from the US or Canada? id prefer a place i could buy the iplayer and whatever other card in one purchase.

Special features? supports HG/SS
Any flashcarts you are looking at in particular Acekard 2i, or Edge
Other? I currently own the old r4 and looking to upgrade to a flashcard team that will update often. I have a DSLite in good condition and don't plan to trade up anytime soon.

Get an AK2i and use the rest of the $40 on a new MicroSD if you want.

Or a 3-in-1

Ok, considering I know some stuff about this, I'm going to try to help out. I'm fairly new to this stuff, so take my recommendations with a grain of salt.

@Scooby_dooby: http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=33039

@Xaphatro: I'd go with the Acekard 2i. From what I've heard, a lot of forum members are fans. It's $5 more, but worth it. I think the Acekard 2i can be updated to prevent future firmware locks from Nintendo, while the iTouch 2 cannot. You might want to look into the SuperCard DSOnei, another excellent DSi card, that's only $3 more than your budget.

@drag0nzord: I think either the m3i zero or the Acekard 2i are good choices. I'm going to go buy an Acekard, so I might be a little bias. Both support SDHC (almost all do), both are supported and updateable. Both have media functionality (most can w/ Moonshell).
If you want to play GBA games, you will need to get the iPlayer, which has the hardware for and a GBA emulator. It's about $40 last time I checked. I don't specifically of any stores, but you can check here: http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=33039

@neonewb: I'd say the Acekard 2i, but both are good choices. I don't know if the EDGE is DSi compatible.

I own an R4, and am going to buy an Acekard 2 soon, so I do have some experience.

Oops, sorry I forgot to mention one thing. I don't have a DSi, just a DS lite, and the chances of me upgrading are next to nil. But I'd go with the Acekard2i, considering that the there are two teams that support it, thus giving the card a brighter future. And those of you wondering as to why I bought a DS-X, i was well, misinformed. I got it at the end of 2008 after reading a review made in 2007. Well, thanks for the advice anyway!

So, I'm asking for a DSi for my birthday.

I'd like to play roms obviously, as well as have it be the best one for compatibility (idk if you can do DSiWare yet, I haven't looked into it just yet).

I'd also like it to be under $20, and available on DX if possible.

Thanks!
