but you all are missing the point. I just want people to realize that IF it does so happen that the 3rd badge is just a portion, a more general fix may be needed.
i meant as in, they knew that the game would be leaked/dumped, so they had to implant a safety net, and they made it so that you are extra annoyed about it, due to you having got a fair way into the game, and the they make it near-impossible to crack, forcing you to buy the game.

Fair enough. It's as legitimate as my hypothesis.
Proof: some pages ago people said that if it wasn't cracked by Monday they would go and buy it.

Coders must work together. Plus de cerveaux pour plus d'efficacité. More brainpower for more efficiency.

Currently in the process of finding exactly what "events" trigger it, and slowly going through disabled them one by one so that they don't add the counter. Although it won't make it work past 4 badges, so need to find a "fix" other than this current work around. Also a hard job finding which part of the "event" adds to the counter so a lot of fiddling at the moment and nothing post-able. But I can confirm that I have successfully increased the "event" limit slightly, not too much and as I said doesn't work past 4 badges.

So if anyone could post a list of things they've found in game that cause the freeze then that'd be a great help.

Which card do you have that it doesn't work on?
Because Assassin's Creed even works on R4's official firmware.

Lol he means for the PC.

Which card do you have that it doesn't work on?
Because Assassin's Creed even works on R4's official firmware.

I'm pretty sure he's talking about the PC versions of Assassins Creed 2.

Can't exactly blame them tbh. I mean, they must lose millions from illegal downloads and stuff... It's a serious problem, and if it wasn't for the fact I can't actually afford to buy all the games I want (damn college not letting me have EMA) I probably wouldn't be waiting for this rom to be fixed.

Sometimes after I finish saving as well.

Here's what I noticed :
Getting in/out of a building/stairs/doors
Encounter wild pokemon in grass
Just after save, when hit B for getting back to game
At the start of a fight against a trainer, the list of pokeball do not appear : the game is frozen
At the end of a fight (Wild pkmn and trainer)

So I just tested that code on No$GBA (on HeartGold), and well, it seems to be working. I was able to load a save file, start a new game and I had no problem walking in and out of a house 60+ times without badges. I was also able to load someone's post-Whitney save file without any trouble, and didn't crash a single time after going in and out of a building 30 times.
HOWEVER
The save file I loaded was a bit below Goldenrod. The 30+ attempts at going in and out of a building were done after I had entered Goldenrod, more specifically on the Dept. Store. After I tried the second code (results below) and got the sprite glitch, I decided to try this one again without going inside Goldenrod - and surprise, I got a different sprite glitch:

after going in and out of the Day Care Center two times. It kept happening whenever I left that place, but it didn't happen when I was walking around with a glitched sprite and went in and out of the Goldenrod Dept. Store. That sprite glitch, by the way, didn't crash anything - I was able to move on with the game and talk to people just fine. [EDIT2] The game also crashed EXACTLY at the 64th event.
[EDIT] Forgot to mention that I didn't get the glitch after the 2nd time I left the house on a later attempt. It still happened, though, but this time at the 6th try.

Appeared to be working just as well as the first code (with the post-3rd badge save file), but I got this sprite mess-up:

on the 26th and the 34th in-and-out of a building, and it crashed (without the volume going down) on the 64th try.


So, to round it up: Prof. 9's first code seems indeed weaker, as the sprite glitches happen a lot more frequently, but both of his codes can't defeat the freezing the happens at the 64th event (after getting the third badge).
I hope I was able to help a bit.
