NO NO NO!!!

This problem has nothing what so ever to do with the hardware. Acekard 2.1 with HW 80 has an issue with the firmware!

After many many hours of working on this I finally saw a post somewhere by this guy creamsoda which revealed this problem has been going on ever since firmware 4.08. I tested each firmware from 4.07 up to the one just released Feb 1, 2010 and they all have the same problem with the loading of game saves. The only one that works is 4.07. The new 4.21 has even more issues in that games that were loading before now give a white screen. I have posted elsewhere on the web and have written to Acekard telling them their programming and testing are sloppy at best. There simply is no need to have all this going on and I admonished them that their retailers are getting pretty annoyed with all the returns when the cards are in fact fine, yet are being returned or simply not ordered because of THEIR FIRMWARE.

The end result is really the same. Does it really matter if the card hardware or its firmware are the issues? In the end...the damn thing is not working correctly and that is the bottom line.

Good Luck to all!

What's with all of the hate for RealHotStuff?

They have amazing customer service. Yes they sold me a defective acekard (they really should stop selling those...) but they replied to my support ticket the same day I submitted it and offered me a full refund.

It's acekard's fault not RHS.

Yes, a lot of them. The defective rate is around 5% which is the highest among all the flashcarts. We test a lot of them, however, they still break after sometime of use.

When you mean break, is it HARDWARE based? SOFTWARE? I don't plan on removing my cart at all lol from my DS anyways.

But give me a light, which is the best cart that RHS is selling know --- with the minimum defective rate

No, they are just defective. We havn't had a single complaint about Acekard brick a DSL or DSi.

Thank you for your understanding but not everyone understands that. We are still taking the heat.

I don't think you got my point, I want to buy from RHS again, and soon.

But I need to know which flash cart, RHS is having the least problems with (as in no defective returns and etc)

None of our customers complained about flashcarts bricked DSL or DSi so far. In terms of quality, CycloDS for DSL and Supercard DS One-i or M3i Zero both are good. I am not saying they are 0% defective, they are relatively better the AK2i.

I am getting 5 flashcards for my nieces and 1 nephew. I decided to buy from RHS , but I think this time I will buy the DSTT. It has similar price and reading the forums on this site I think they have much fewer issues.

Despite the uncertain future support of DSTT, I returned my 3 POS AK2.1s and got 3 DSTTs. I can play basically any game on the DS-Scene list (except some very recent ones that others can't play anyway). Bowser's Inside Story, Spirit Tracks, Sands of Destruction, etc., etc. They all work, and every game that came before them works. That's currently far better than a broken AK2.1.

Even if I can't play any games that are released in the future (and this is uncertain, because there is still a group out there working on unofficial FW for DSTT), that's still a lot of gaming on the DSTT for $20.

$20, and I probably overpaid for them but I couldn't care less. I can't even buy a single good game for $20.

Anyway I couldn't be happier. It just works. In fact, I bought 3 more of them recently for friends and they are overjoyed as well.

Anyone who adamantly opposes buying a DSTT needs a reality check. $20 to play thousands of ROMs? Are you kidding me?

Anyone who thinks that a DSTT is not worth buying because it isn't future-proof also needs a reality check. Guess what? None of these cards are entirely future-proof, regardless of whether they run AKAIO or not.

I bought my Acekard 2i from RSH for $24.00 no shipping, plus 16 bucks for a 4gb Micro SDHC from Walmart, brought my total expenses to $40.00 which is a BRAND NEW DS Game, to me $40 dollars in one piece is well worh it, as I have close to 60 games on my cart already, and if these 60 games were $40 bucks each..I would be broke.

Flash Carts are the way to go, and Ak 2i are the best choice (DSL or DSi)

So funny story I ordered an acekard 2.1 from dealextreme and found that it either freezes on the save menu (using the AKAIO firmware) or pretends to save using the latest official firmware. I wrote to dealextreme and actually wound up getting a replacement but this new card still has the same issues!

So what I want to ask you guys is should I bother writing to them again and risk getting another fake card? (then i can open my own shitty internet store) or should I look into buying a different brand of flash card. That's somewhat ironic asking on the acekard sub-forum but they all appear to be defective nowadays and I don't want to risk getting a clone if I buy an aki... So whats the next best card out there.

i'm in the exact same situation as you...and not entirely sure what to do. dx was prompt, but sending me another non-functioning card was pretty much useless.

Why don't you just send them back and ask for a credit? then get an Acekard 2i instead. Those are working and it's just $2.54 more. I believe they have them stock, I had 2 dispatched just a few days ago.

DX seem to be dealing with and replacing the carts fine, but the entire batch of AK2.1's seem bad. So the 2i is your best choice. If you ever decide to get a DSi or DSi XL then the 2i will work with them too.

So there haven't been reports of bad AKi's? How much would shipping cost to send my card back to hong kong? If it winds up being 10 or more I don't think its worth it. In any case dealextreme doesn't seem to be selling any flashcards right now and every other sites cards are so expensive I might as well just get a Cyclo

Don't worry DX are still selling them, use this link https://www.dealextreme.com/forums/forums.dx/forum.18728 and you can click on the add to cart button. DX don't care if you order in this manner. If you read the top few threads in that forum, you will see they are still shipping them. I ordered my two on Jan 27th and they shipped them two days ago.

Price is still $12.97 and they are the ones which don't come with the MicroSD/TF carder reader.

Other people on here are having them shipped too

Now, onto more important matters about the product. The second post says that I'm likely to get a bad cart or maybe even a clone. Is this true?
So DX are definately still shipping them, they just can't have them on their website.

There are a few issues with the AK2i's, nothing that should effect you. There's a new batch of clones, but no one has reported receiving one from DX. Even then they still work, just won't update with the firmware fix which won't effect you as you have a DSL. Some of the cards from DX had issues updating to 1.4 and had to use the R4i update, but Acekard released a new FW update which now works on these cards. So no issue with them anymore.

I received one ak2i card from dx 2 weeks ago and it's fine.

They cover the shipping cost, and may ask to ship to a return address in the US instead.

That was all very helpful thank you. Seeing as how the Acekard 2i works on DSL (I didn't think it did before) I will try to get my money back and get that. Thanks!

Hi,

I just bought an Acekard 2.1 and I either get freezes or 'fake saves' as well. I fixed the problem by using AKAIO 1.2, and now all games are freeze-free/work. I don't know why no versions of AKAIO later than 1.2 will save properly. =/ Any ideas?

I had left a bad review of Acekard 2.1 on RHS to warn customers about the "bad batch", RHS took my review down...

If they have rectified the problem they could have at least made a comment on my review saying they have fixed the issue.

I guess sales are more important then being fair to the customers, offering $ back hoping the people won't follow through with it , selling bad acekard 2.1s ....

Bad business to take customers reviews down. I retract all positive statements I have made about RHS.

Hmm HWID 80 doesn't sound too good. Does your Acekard have a protruding chip in the front? If so, then you probably have an Actel based Acekard, which the Acekard team considers a clone. See the stickied clone topic for info. Also if it doesn't work (not detectable), try to clean the contacts with a soft cloth.

If you want to avoid the problems of the AK2.1, get the AK2i instead. I have 1 from Dx, 1 from FP and 2 from 7dayshop and all are fine. The AK2i works fine on DS Lites/ Phats.

The Chinese new year is coming up soon: Feb 12 to Feb 20, 2010. They will have an order backlog when they reopen, so another replacement could take a month.

As you're in the UK 7dayshop are selling Genuine AK2i cards for £10.99 delivered which is a good price considering they are in the UK/ Channel Islands. http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/product_in...ducts_id=107642

Yeah, think I'm gonna do that. Also going to try and get another new one from DX. Get as many out of the supply chain as possible
