I was currenty on Wanin's 4.0 with Preloader v.29. I then updated via Waninkoko's 4.2 and it installed successfully. (I did have the upsidedown HBC, which I fixed)

Then I installed Preloader v.29, now I have no system menu after I reinstalled Preloader v.29. It froze at the restarting in 5 sec...

I have attempted DOP-IOS Mod and WAD Manager to reinstall IOS70 & System Menu v481. Nothing seems to work.

I can access Preloader v.29, HBC and BootMii (IOS).

If someone knows of way to get my system menu back, I am all ears.

My fear is loosing Preloader after attempting to reinstall the system menu. If I loose preloader, I will have a full brick. (i think)

Thanks in advance.

Hi guys,

I got my Wii modded (soft) and up and running fine with HBC, N64 Emu, Usb Loader_GX so thanks!!

I just have a couple of things I am hoping you can help me with.

1)When I select HBC from Priloader menu the wii crashes - System Menu works fine though.

2)When I try running HB Browser the wii just hangs on a blank screen!

3)Is it safe to browse the internet now I have modded the wii?
3a)if so. How do I get the Internet icon on my wii channel? (At the moment I just have discover the internet which is annoying)

4)I have seen some youtube videos where people have the USB loader_GX icon on the main channel along with disc, mii etc.
I had a nosey around the internet but I get a feeling this can be a dangerous practice?
Can someone enlighten me on this and the process.

I realise there are alot of questions here so thanks in advance

I see that DOP-IOS MOD v11 was just released yesterday. From the Changelog it says it can load WADs from SD/USB. Now I am new to this whole Wii Hacking scene. So maybe it already had that feature.

The version in the modify.zip is a GP DOP-IOS MOD and the author refers to it as a "mod" of DOP-IOS MOD.

If both of these are based on the same code, the Question is, can I just use the new DOP-IOS MOD to remove the stubs and then install the WADS from it aswell.

Would this change the steps in the guide at all?

If this is can be done, dont you think using one less program, make this guide even easier?

Cheers!

edit:

dop ios mod info from wiibrew
v11
IOSes can now be installed from WAD from the SD/USB. Channels and SysMenu will come in v12.
FakeSign Restorer (aka Trucha Bug Restore) will now install IOS36 in 1 step.

v10
Added an option on the main menu to detect and delete stubbed IOSs

either one should be fine

only if these are IOSs, if the wads u want to install are channels then use wad manager (multi-mod). Or u can use the app from the link in the first post, but it hasn't been thoroughly tested (but it looked to be okay when I ran in for a few min)

just finished looking at this tool, looks interesting, silly question though do I have to build it my self?

I want to install the WADs from the modify.zip from this guide. I will use WAD Manager 1.5/Multi-mod for Channels/Forwarders.

I assume you are referring to the jskyboo MOD from the link above.??

Quick question:
I completed the whole softmod using this guide (a couple weeks ago, so an older version), and everything went smoothly. I installed the latest NeoGamma loader and was able to play the first No More Heroes via DVD.

I obtained backups of both Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom and Mariokart Wii and burned them onto DVDs the same way as No More Heroes, but this time, both games came up with a "Error #001: Unauthorized device detected" or something. Solution?

Also, my guess is that when I first went through this guide, I installed all the cIOS for USB loading, but preceeded to load via DVDs. Since it still worked with No More Heroes, I didn't think twice. Should I install the right cIOS files for DVD loading? I would have done this myself, but the guide has since changed and I have no idea which cIOS files are for DVD or USB loading now.

Thanks!

What is the NAND backup? Do I need it? o.o My wii is already 4.2 and Im trying to figure out what the NAND backup is Help?

The NAND backup is a copy of the wii's system, stored on an SD card, at the current state which you do the backup. It is highly recommended as if you install a bad/corrupted wad or manage to brick your wii, installing the NAND can restore the wii as long as you can access bootmii.

If the Wii is bricked, how would I be able to access bootmii through the HBC?

NeoGamma and USB Loader GX need the "cIOS things" to operate, and to install cIOS ypu need the Trucha bug. Just follow the guide step by step.

Would appreciate some help on this issue, and apologies in advance if the solution is already posted here (have searched but with no luck).

FYI - I have followed this guide successfully on 5 mates Wii's and am having a problem on number 6.

This Wii had firmware 3.4e when I started.

I have completed the following steps:

Updated to 4.2e with Homebrew Channel installed and NAND backup created

On completion of “Restoring the Trucha Bug” I exited to find the Homebrew Channel upside down.

However I carried on and completed “Installing the cIOS & Patching the System Menu ISO”

I then uninstalled the Homebrew Channel (something I have down previously to resolve the upside down issue) then attempted to re-install the Channel using Bannerbomb.

This is where I have the problem, as I am unable to run Bannerbomb via the SD Card Menu or via Data Management\Channels\SD Card. In both instances I see channel with a “?”

Any help on this would be great.

Cheers

I had this problem, i think you still have the old bannerbomb on your SD card with is for the 3.x System menu hack. I think the v4.x bannerbomb (the one which loads thru the SD card menu) is slightly different. Delete the private folder on your card and recopy the private folder from the modify.zip download.

Doing this rectified the problem for me perfecly.
Hope it does the same for you!

PS if you have save games copied over to your SD just rename Private to Private_old instead of deleting at the first step.

I just got my pre-owned Wii yesterday and it came with 3.3E onboard. Would I be better letting it auto update through Nintendo to 4.2 or hack it the way its says in this thread. What is the easy and safest way to do it. Thanks for the help.
