you could just use NTFS or FAT

NTFS is fine? then why the hell do i keep getting people telling me to make it WBFS

WBFS supports writing/ripping games from disc, NTFS doesn't. FAT only supports files up to 4.0 GB. WBFS also "scrubs" games automatically. The amount of disc space used is the actual game, not the 4.3GB size...

Until NTFS supports ripping, I LOVE some WBFS.

If your PC doesn't like WBFS Manager, try a console program like wbfs_intelligent_hermes. Works fine for me and formats your drive/partition too.

Also, on slower machines, hermes program is MUCH faster than WBFS Manager.

Thanks, nitrostemp!

I really can't say that I'm looking forward to converting anytime soon (full time school/full time work/2 kids/wife works full time/alcohol addiction/finally got a xbox 360 for christmas/etc), though I appreciate the info - I obviously missed it somewhere!

Thank you for your help! No doubt it will come in handy!

if you installed preloader or priiloader, just go to settings (or system hacks) and enable the function that blocks disc updates. You should also block system updates as well. Now that you're soft-modded, you won't want either of these...

I recently decided to change configuration and add a 500GB USB Western Digital My Passport Essentials drive to my configuration and am suddenly experiencing a similar problem to my Wii remote not functioning.

Everything works flawlessly when I run CFG via SD, however when I attempt to run CFG directly from the drive, it loads the CFG GUI and then the Wii remote stops responding and won't connect. Once I reset the Wii, it's fine again. I've tried reconnecting via the remote and via the remote reset button near the SD card slot on the console itself, to no avail. I even tried connecting the drive to the other USB port and it attempts and then starts the countdown, at which point I also noticed that the remote stops responding... So obviously it's something to do with the IOS being used and a possible USB conflict...

Everything was great before trying this configuration change -- I had a 16GB card that ran great and all my backups ran off the USB drive until it suddenly died.

The only 4GB spare I have I'd like to keep as simply a spare and not risk the chance of killing...

Anyone have similar experiences or any thoughts on an alternate (or preferred) IOS I should install CFG with? (can't say off the top of my head which one was used originally -- it's been so long since I configured any of this and like I said -- Everything worked flawlessly before attempting to switch to loading it via USB)

*EDIT*
Incidentally, I updated, last night, to 65. Iin my attempts to resolve, I changed revision to 65-222 with no change in behavior. Both the previous version (58 (I think, can't remember what version what I had prior to 65)) and version 65 both work via SD, just not USB.
