Hey guys, I'm having a minor problem. My wii firmware was originally 3.3/
I got it up to 4.2 and got everything working properly. Only problem is when I go into the data management to sort the channels on my sd card, it freezes instantly.
I've tried several times and it always freezes there.. Any ideas??

I got the same exactly problem as you!!! Have you fixed yet?

Its the exactly thing, i was 3.3 , i updated, everything working fine, but when i go to data managemente, to sort the channels, my wii freezes it too!

Please help us guys!

i have the same issue, was about to type up a post myself and i saw this one here

im running into a problem after installing 4.2

ive deleted everything from update.zip from my sd card and added everything from modify.zip

when i go to load boot.dol from my SD chan in the wii menu it freezes right there. ive formatted the sd card and put the files from modity.zip on again and i get the same problem. updating to 4.2 seems to have worked fine because on my wii system settings it says im at ver. 4.2u

homebrew chan works fine i can see all the apps that are in the app folder but i just freeze up when i go into the SD chan

thanks in advance for any help you guys can send our way.

..edit..

im just going to leave my full post here incase it helps anyone. i think i may have just gotten it to work. i went into the SD menu via the SD card option in the bottom left hand corner. i didnt follow the original path i took when upgrading to 4.2 i will update again if im able to go the whole way through the install this way

Alright I figured out why I couldn't access the sd through the data management section. Right at the start of the update, you copy a boot.dol file onto the root of the sd card and I never ended up deleting it. So I opened it with my computer and went to into private -> titles and deleted the aktn folder. Check it out and see what happens. If the file is there, that's most likely the problem.

Is it safe to follow this guide if there's some earlier softmodding done on the wii? I followed Deviyl's Fully Softmod Any Wii guide but I got stuck in the preloader part and since I only have System Menu 3.4E, I thought I should probably follow this guide to get everything up to date.

Have been modding my Wiis for awhile and I swear by this guide. refer ALL my friends to it. It rocks.

So my sister buys a new wii for christmas. LU72051358 3

I followed the guide to the letter like I always do.

But none of the discs are read. Every back up loader I use gives me No Disc errors. They can't read em!

I dont have any USB keys or Hard drives to test my USB but has anyone heard this?

The Wii was 4.0 when I got it, and I upgraded it as per this guide to 4.2

Any thoughts?

I've done this tutorial on the version 4.2 and everything went ok.

I did the modify.zip tutorial to insert the trucha bug again.

In my instalation both the neogamma for loading dvds or usbloader gx to load games from drive work fine. The only problem was loading "Rabbids Go Home" original from the system menu.

Hi, i followed this guide and i added usb loader gx and configurable usb loader.
I have a problem with nsmb, when i go into the first mushroom stage at the end the game stopped (not freeze), mario breathes, but i can't click anything and the stage is ended, i can only push the power button for 4 seconds to restart.
I have the same problem when i go into some tubes or into others stages, the problem is not random but always in the same places. sorry for my english...

I never had this problem before, i've been using 4G SDHC Kingston for my wii since 4.0E.
it work fine until just now when i follow this guide to update to 4.2, http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=171901

My 4GB can be read by HBC (latest version 1.0.6), but the problem start when i tried to use wadmanager, wadmanager keep returning error -1 which mean hardware error.
i tried my other 2GB SD card and it work fine, so i thought the problem was my 4GB card, but it work fine on PC tho, i tried to reformat it with different mode and still no luck.

my wii seem doesn't recognize SDHC but HBC does, its so weird, could it be because i install IOS60 with trucha patch?

could someone please tell me how to re-enable SDHC card? atm i am on 4.1E (downgrade from 4.2 to 4.1 using http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=171901)

help would be really appreciate.

Mod worked. Now loading games off USB. Guide worked perfectly though.

If there was anything i struggled with is the 'Why' for alot of things. I struggle to understand stuff if i do not know why. Spent time researching and found alot of answers elsewhere. This Guide would be great as a stickied guide that was locked. Only allow admins to add important information to it.

Either way, great walkthrough, thanks for the help all.

Try doing bit of homework. Everything you need to know can be read in this bible: http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=173713

NSMB is a tricky Game. From what I understand, you can play it just fine with a USB loader (thats what I ended up doing) or if you patch your Softmod, you can use a disc. Search around for a specific .dol patched version of NSMB and a tutorial. I did a quick search and couldnt find anything, but Im in a rush. So Im sure you can good buddy! The Ninja Force is strong in you after all..

Thats just the thing. Ive done this tut about 25 times for months. And suddenly I get this error. Not only that, the last 4 Wiis I did the NeoGamma loader didnt work. It was a different error. I forget what it was..something like Error #1 or something. Anyway, uLoader worked just fine though so I didnt break my head over it. But this No Disc Error... I just... I looked everywhere for someoen with the same problem and cant figure it out!

Its trying on my Ninja Skillzzzzz...

yeah and if you get a no disc error, then you most likely have a d3-2 drive which cant read any disc backups at all

Alright, I've got a problem here.

I've tried this twice already and both times my Wii has bricked after enabling the Priiloader hacks. Luckily I've been able to restore my Wii thanks to the NAND backup. But I fear trying it a third time. Any idea as to why this happens?

Its not the end of the world, you can still play games off a usb but im sure if u searching in google you'd find all the info u want. basically it just means that u cant play backup discs at all because the wii can not physically read them.
