ok this was bound to happen lets just hope ashley and his team dosent take this to hard and decide to stop releasing his firmware he has really helped ttds and r4 users everywhere and i have nothing but respect for him please please ashley if u read this keep on releasing firmware

...And this was unexpected by whom? I reiterate what I've said before: NDSTT.com putting the firmware on their web site is a good thing because it continues to support, after a fashion, NDSTT owners who otherwise might not be able to find the unofficial firmware updates. Yes, their refusal to give credit where credit is due sucks, and their reinsertion of the "fake killer" code is despicable, but that's reality folks.

Reality sucks. That's why we play video games.

It's rather hypocritical of them to make a big deal about credit and complain that DSTT is 'stealing' their work when they don't give credit for the firmware they 'stole' from DSTT to use as the base:QUOTE--- Unofficial DSTT Kernel ---

the reason ndstt.com stopped supporting their card was because they realized it was a much-cloned peice of crap
their card got cloned to death, with hacked firmwares and anti-fake killer removals, so they gave the cloners a taste of their own medicine

and to say that ndstt.com is bad ... sure, they took the updates .... but its their card, originally

and ashley hacked their firmware and used it to sell their clones ...

and now ashley gets mad because ndstt.com put his update on their site?

Sue them for what? Taking the unofficial firmware that they made after stealing the official firmware to modify it into unofficial firmware? If yes Ashley would lose but who would sue a company who makes flashcarts since that would cause trouble unto yourself.

Except for the fact that ashley (he, not she apparently) "stole" the firmware from DSTT in the first place.

Copying is easy. If you copy something you don't technically steal(taking from someone) something. So if i get this:

Ndstt.com COPIED the work from Ashley who COPIED the firmware and making it work so we (the copiers) have some new gamed that we COPIED that werent supposed to be COPIED. Ndstt is not happy that a lot of compagnies COPIED their card that they themselves COPIED on R4 in the first place.

I thank everyone very much that made my copies work and know that I love you all and wish you all a merry christmas.

Unfortunately it's not quite that simple due to copyright laws. The law states that an individual owns "intellectual property rights" to any of their own work or ideas. Basically this means it is against the law for anyone else to use their work or even their idea (as long as they can prove it was their idea first), including copies of it, without their permission.

My understanding of this is that the person that made changes to the original DSTT firmware is fully entitled to do that, however they would technically be breaking the law if they were to release the software into the public domain as their own work. That said, I am not sure where NDSTT.com stand when they claim the modifiers code as their own.

You copy any physical item, that's counterfeiting.

The 1's and 0's that make up digital 'things' are neither physical nor tangible nor finite.
No matter how many times you use the letter 'a' it still has it's same "value".
